[F]or without Me you can do nothing.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
John 15:5b, 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
The power source is gone. These words from a local middle school cafeteria cashier indicated that her computer was not operating. Unless the proper power source was connected to the computer, the computer would remain as dead as an unfortunate groundhog on the freeway.
We Christians have a Power Source. His name is Jesus Christ, and by His Spirit living in us, we have the means whereby we can do God’s will for our lives. It is virtually impossible to do God’s will on our own strength. The reason is simple: when we depend on our own strength, we weaken the connection to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I do not believe that we lose our connection with Jesus totally, but we can have so weak a connection that we do not sense His presence in our lives. Therefore, to strengthen our connection with Jesus Christ, we need to depend on the Holy Spirit in us daily, not just when we find ourselves in a faith crisis.
