Its good to be ambitious. Its good to aspire to achieve and be more. Its great advice to be always
how can I put this… Forward looking? Its really important to plan for, and work towards building ones future. Its vital to be prepared well, in as much as we can be! I mean, theres nothing worse than not planning for certain possibilities and then ending up with a crisis on your hands that could have been avoided.
Yet in our frantic (and often cage rattling rat race) lives, we get so caught up in shaping our future that we forget that we are living now. We forget, or rather neglect, the relationships, opportunities, moments, lessons and challenges of today, in our pursuit of tomorrow. And yet tomorrow is so tenuous.
The future is always the unknown. Its always full of uncertainty. Its always the one thing that we find ourselves so anxious about. So Im not surprised at our obsession with trying to peer into its dark, unchartered hallways. Many have spent fortunes trying to get a glimpse of tomorrow: we all know it from reading palms to reading the stars; from tea leaves to tarot cards; from psychics to self proclaimed prophets; from Nostradamus to the Bible; from dreams that seemed so vivid to well those dreams that we can barely remember at all: I cannot remember the exact details of the dream, but I know it had a mule and a tin of baked beans in it. Im sure it has something to do with my future. God is trying to tell me something
Many of us have tried to get a handle of what happens next, before it happens. And lets face it: there are times when (in hindsight) we were so worried about the future (like the economy or job security or Is she going to dump me? ) that it almost paralyzed us then our worst fears never become a reality.
Yet today is up for grabs! Today is screaming, Here I am! You can get a hold of me! Tomorrow is out of your grasp, but you can shape it by how you handle me! Hang on heres my handle! Get hold of me while there is time . Before I slide into the unreachable depths of yesterday and then yesteryear .
Plan for tomorrow, hope for tomorrow; look forward to tomorrow, but live today with vigour, with passion and with integrity. Who knows? Perhaps yesterday, you didnt realise that today may just be your last tomorrow.
