I want to see what no one sees
Dared ever look upon
I want to face what no one saw
That which they forced be gone
The thing that lurks inside, is still
At strange approach it roar
But yearns for light and touch and love
Is goodness at the core
I want to know, to understand
Why kindness scares it so
Why there'll be times it sneaks so close
Then swift recoil in woe
I want to find what makes it tick
I need to know its heart
To help it know not all are same
Remove the poison dart
Of jadedness and cynicism
And fear that all are like
Of pushing out, away, before
At softest core they strike
The core it hides, protects 'bove all
The soul that almost broke
The armor that it did put up
The wariness it woke
This poem came banging on my door today (well, yesterday, now). It's not finished yet, but I had to write it down.
