Paul is continually repeating parts of the ETERNAL COVENANT of GRACE in Rom. 8:29-30. The "effectual call" is the beginning of God's work of GRACE in sinners. It is "Regeneration". Paul calls it "the holy calling" "called to be saints" "the washing of regeneration" "the renewing of the Spirit" "heart circumcision of the Spirit" Jesus referred to Reg. as "you are all "washed" yet not all of you. Judas was never "born again" " born of the water and the Spirit" "making the tree good and its fruit good" "the good heart" . There are more than 30 verses which refer to this radical brake from the sin controlled life. Jesus referred to it as "deliverance from the slavery to sin to freedom". Paul referred to it as "translating us from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light"; Yet, so many are so blind to this truth, they say Regeneration is only a "positional" matter, not the life altering fact which it is.
