"Zech. 1:8 I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white."

"I saw by night" means being in a dark place full of despair.

"and behold a man upon a red horse," "red" means the blood of war, "horse" means power, "man" is an angel of the Lord (Zech. 1:11). When you put this together, it means an angel of the Lord is sent with the power to bring war with all the bloodshed, darkness, and despair that war causes.

"and he stood among the myrtle trees," This is interesting because "myrtle trees" means prosperity and good things happening or about to happen. "he" is an angel of the Lord. So an angle of the Lord is sent to bring good news and prosperity.

"that were in the bottom," This means the lowest point where the situation couldn't be worse.

"and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white," The "red horses" mean bloodshed, war, and conflict. The "speckled" horses are black and white. White means righteousness, black means darkness and despair. The "white" horse means righteousness.

This can be interpreted to mean that an angel is coming to make war but he's bringing good news to those in a place filled with darkness and despair and with him are others to make war and to bring in righteousness.
This sounds like a savior is coming to Israel to take vengeance against those who have oppressed them and to bring in righteousness.

"Zech. 1:10 And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the Lord hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth."

"the man that stood among the myrtle trees," This is an angel (Zech. 1:11) of the Lord who is going to bring prosperity and good things to Israel.

"these are they whom the Lord hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth," These are the red, speckled, and white horsemen or angels sent by the Lord to accomplish his will. It is the Lord who sends these forces of good and evil through the earth either for judgment or mercy.

"Zech. 1:16-17 Therefore thus saith the Lord; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the Lord of hosts, -----Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem."

This means that the LORD is about to bless his people. He is the LORD of hosts or armies who will cause other nations to rise up and make war against those nations who oppressed Israel and will cast them out of the land. The Lord's people will return to their land and by his grace will prosper. They will prepare Zion for the return of the LORD.

"Zech. 1:18-19 Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns. And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem."

The horns which scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem are Assyria/Chaldea, Medo/Persia, Greece, and Rome.

"Zech. 1:20-21 And the LORD shewed me four carpenters. Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it."

The four carpenters are the Chaldeans who defeated the Assyrians, the Persians who defeated the Chaldeans, the Greeks who defeated the Persians, and the Romans who defeated the Greeks. It is the LORD of hosts who sent his angels to bring this to pass. His people had sinned grievously against him. The armies were sent to cleanse Jerusalem. Then his people returned to rebuild Zion and to bring back righteousness.
