If a couple were together, and the woman catches (meaning she reveals the secret) the man masturbating off to pornography, does this count as Adultery?

Lol, its normal to masturbate.

Perhaps try and make light of it if possible in the conversation or am I misunderstanding what the scenario was?

Well, most definitely there's the issue with pornography. It's an absolute no-no. However, speaking from personal experience, it was a little awkward to catch him, but we just kind of ignored it and moved on.

If the man is masturbating to Porn instead of going to her to relieve his sexual tension instead, is that Adultery?
(consider the two married)

Metaphorically speaking....I think of that scenario as more him getting rid of a really bad itch so it doesn't bother him all day, rather than committing adultery.... same as if it were the woman masturbating (yes, women do it too). Depending on what they're fantasizing, it's usually impersonal, and purely a mammal thing...lol.

As for the porn part though...I think that can seriously mess up the mind and invite in shame and sadness (and other scary crap) into the heart... but that's another topic.

Pornography is highly impersonal (even though it can be bad for the person), I don't see it as the same as committing adultery.

If she were available, then WHY is he masturbating to porn instead of going to his wife?? Sounds like there would be a deeper issue there. For the record, I do think that it is adultery.

Matthew 5:27-28 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Whether he looks at her live, on screen, on a page, or in his mind, he is still lusting and committing adultery.

Where the mind goes the man will follow. Therefore, our actions follow whats in our mind and whats in our heart. So then, If our heart tells our mind to look at lust, even if we dont act upon it with our actions, we have committed a sin, for the Word says,
Ephesians 4: 17 - 24, and Col 3: 5-6 says, 5 So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Having nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Dont be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. 6 Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.

This says that what is in our heart, is what we worship, and what we worship takes presidence over God. If we think upon something and give it power over us to the degree that we let it rule us, then it has become a god to us. Lust is one of those forces that Satan uses every day with people to suay people to think its ok, when in actuallity its not. Only in marriage, for in scripture, it says 1 Cor 7:9 But if they cant control themselves, they should marry, Its better to marry than to burn with lust.

So we need to be very careful about what is in our thoughts, that is why we all need Jesus so much, and humbly seek him to ask his help in our trials. I am so far from perfect, it's not even funny, but i know Jesus still hears my cries for help. So thank for for his grace, mercy and love to help me during my struggles and i know He is there for all who seek Him too.. :)

I remember in the late 1990s, after the rise of the Internet with its flood of pornographic filth, hearing Chuck Smith speak from the pulpit that women had a right to divorce their husbands if they caught them viewing pornography.

A slew of divorces followed that caused upheaval and chaos tearing apart families, Christian relationships in the church, creating enormous pain and suffering for the children, etc...

Smith quickly stopped teaching this and replaced it with a one-step Christian recovery ministry. Apparently, God doesn't want families divorcing simply because husbands (who are godly in every other part of their life) are struggling with what has become a very common problem for men with every computing device tapped directly into a free porn delivery vehicle (e.g. the Internet).

Before the recent rise of the Internet, a man had to literally walk into a store and buy it from behind the counter. It was easy for Christian men to resist this temptation. Not so anymore.

What's up with that? What do you think a person does when they do this? Read the dictionary? I think it's time people man-up to their sins!

Stephen...
Isn't it possible for a man to "perform the act" without an extramarital aid? Can't a man just imagine his wife? As in a situation where she is unavailable due to distance or illness or something like that?

When people make a general statement, it's generally accepted in all situations. This was never mentioned. Moreover, when a single guy states that masturbation is okay, I generally receive that as a statement from him, like it is okay for HIM.

And what would be wrong with a married man doing it while he thought of his wife? Unless you have an argument against that then my point still stands.

in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with masturbation but it will effect your health if you over doing it. as for phonography, definately NO because it is a sin as Jesus have said that if you look at a women lustfully, you commit adultery. But i think sex within a marriage is blessed by God. Of course, you must be responsible for your action ie if your wife gets pregnant, please raise the child not to abundon them (as very frequently happen in my country especially the muslims) or as UGLY have said to me earlier, put up for adoption.

Matthew 5:27-28 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

This is pretty clear..... the porn is an issue and the action that goes with it. I have seen the anger and over all crap-tastic behaviour that comes with the porn...for example the "person" who is watching the"impersonal" porn becomes very effected by the porn and treats his wife poorly and other women he may cross paths with. The debasing of the women in these videos transfers negative baggage to the consumer......that is as personal as it gets..... so yes it is adultery and overall a super lousy way to spend your time.....

The Machine

"Can you smell what the Rock is cookin?".......Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson

P.S. As for the married guy who yanks:eek: and thinks about his wife well....I guess that's cool, but wouldn't you rather just be with your wife??? I mean really???Wait until you are with her or around her or whatever, it's not like we are mindless animals:eek:....but that wasn't the question being asked by the thread poster.

first adultery means "vitiate or fake a thing";
corrupt or mix.
Is the "desecration of the marriage bed" (marriage). the right pleasure which the Bible should be only between care! a man and a woman.
ie all pleasure out of biblical principles is considered an immoral act, or adultery and this is no exception.
and this has consequences and sueler be severe, those who believe they will be able to continue with their normal lives without any consequence are very wrong! The Bible says that the first consequence of adultery is death for the one who commits it. At first it is a spiritual death and finally carnal.

Proverbs 6:32
"He who commits adultery has no understanding; destroys his soul that does it."

This is true, note that the first consequence is the spiritual death of the person. And then when their time is going to be the death carnal

Those who commit adultery stop sinning no eyes, he still looked at other women / men, do not cease to do evil, as stated above "cursed children
this pleasure out of an actor's spouse unspiritual.
The word of God declares that it is in the heart where it all starts, including adultery. Mt.15: 19. Jesus himself said in Matthew 5:27 / 28 to look at someone and codiciarlo already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Sexual intimacy should be limited to the spouse. The Bible mentions the self as an aspect of the fruit of the Spirit. Delivery by faith to the will of God concerning the purity pave the way for the gift of self-control through the Spirit. Galatians 5:22 / 24.

to avoid falling into adultery, we must guard our hearts and minds and desires impure thoughts. And if they touch us we rebuke and dispose of our lives. 2Sa. 11:2-4. Away from it all and who may hinder us from living a life pleasing to God. Génisis.39: 7/9. God has given us self-control as a weapon. To defeat. 2 Timoteo.1: 7. For those who repent are promised forgiveness from God. John 8:3-11 - 1 Corintios.6 :9-11

If a married man fantasizes about his wife while doing this, he will eventually fantasize about something she cannot do or will not do, causing him to practice his habit more. In the end, he is committing adultery because he is fantasizing about another woman entirely that only has her face.
