I am trying to find help getting my water turned on. I was accepted as a applicant on givelocally.net, but there has only been $25 given in my name. I have 2 small children, they are 5 and 7. I am working, but I am not making alot right now. I have tried the local churches and the local social service organizations with no results. Does anyone know where I can go for help?

this is the site that is trying to help me. Give Locally - Local Giving Made Easy

First, try State welfair organizations. If you don't make enough money to support the number of dependents you have in your house, then they will give you additional income.

No one here has anyway of telling whether this is legit or a scam. If someone needs money I find it hard to believe *no* local church, charity, family, or friends can help (especially if you consider how many churches are in the average city). Maybe this is legit, but it looks doubtful and I would rather give my money to something I'm sure is legitimate rather than to something that I have no idea of.

Agreed and who better to target than kind charitable christians. If anyone randomly sent off money then i will say with 99% certainty they got scammed.

I agree that it could have been a scam. Also at the same time I wondered if anyone had looked into the situation to try and find out if it was a scam or if the person was truly in need of financial help. As the post is too old now from the date I guess we will never know. I suppose there are ways to check and find out if someone is legitimately in need.

Also, have to look, the person only make the one post, and was here only the one day, never was back to look for replies to her question. I don't like to give doubt to people, but when they ask for help, then don't come back to see for replies makes me wonder.

It is old post, and can think that it was either scam, or that she got what she needed.

Makes me wonder now, if the site is for profit, and percentage of what you donate goes to someone, and that was reason they popped a link in here.

Oh well, I am sure she was brought up in prayers here.

I'm sure there are people that love Jesus in here that prayed for that person. Sure of it.

Catholic Charities or Salvation Army always give when someone is in need.
