Alright people, I didn't know where to post this so I guess I'm going to try here.
I am an author. I finished my first novel late last year and have been working towards getting it published. (I self published for family and friends to read, but now I really want it to be official. Nation-wide publication would be the most exciting thing ever!)
I know how much work it takes to become published. I want to start by getting a literary agent so I can go about it the right way. I don't want to send in manuscripts to publishers unsolicited. I've attempted that route before, but it went no where.
I will NOT pay to have my work published. I worked hard on my book and it speaks for itself. I'm not paying someone to put my book on paper. If I wanted to do that I would continue with the self-publishing and getting all my revenue myself. Once published, I am aware my agent will take 10-20% of my intake which is fine. I won't pay them before I'm published though.
Anyways, I'm in the process of re-writing an agent query letter for the bazillionth time. I'd really like an experienced author to look at my query and tell me what they think/what I'm doing wrong etc. So if there's anyone out there that would like to offer assistance, PLEASE send me a message! It would be greatly appreciated!
Also, if anyone knows of any established agents taking on new authors, that would be a great thing to know also! Thank you so so much!
