Well I said this before but I'll say it again. LGBT people are tax paying citizens and their tax dollars pay to maintain the courthouse so they should be entitled to the same privileges as any other tax paying citizen
So - all the State legislatures, and the Federal Courts have to do is RULE that Homosexual cohabitants who enter into a binding civil union contract (which is all a "wedding" actually consists of legally) be granted the same overall legal package as Heterosexual cohabitants. This has largely been in place for decades in most jurisdictions.

You know who doesn't pay taxes? Churches. So religion doesn't pay a dime in taxes but still wants to influence lawmaking.
.

SO???? Opinions are like noses. Everybody's got one. Whether churches pay taxes or not isn't important in that issue. YOU obviously want to "influence Lawmaking", but you don't "matter" enough to do so. I don't either, but I don't really CARE what the "U.S. Law" does or doesn't do.

They also don't have to show their books to the IRS to prove they are nonprofit,
Not entirely true there are qualifications See IRS 501(c)(3) for details, and qualifications necessary for Charitable, or Religious Corporations. Sen. Grassley went on a real "witch hunt" regarding 501(c)(3) violations of corporately significant ministries recently, and financial statements were a large part of that.

so they get all these special privileges but have a poopy fit if Bob and Steve want to get married
Because, of course, BIBLICALLY there's NO SUCH THING as Homosexual marriage, and CHRISTIAN religious organizations derive their sexual beliefs and standards from the Bible as a source. Homosexuals don't. We simply speak the TRUTH to the matter.

Homosexual cohabitants already HAD most of the civil rights legally granted to Heterosexual married couples, but THEY were the ones who needed for their filthy sexual activities to be called a "Marriage", instead of a "Civil union". Now they've achieved that, and still get all hissy, when Biblical Christians tell them the truth about their SINFUL PRACTICE.

I did not say always
Tradition is really just peer pressure from dead people. So just because something has been a status quo for a few thousand years that doesn't mean it can't change, especially since Pew pills indicate that over 60% of Americans have no problem with same-sex marriages
Also, gay people pay taxes just like everyone else and they should be entitled to the same privileges as any other tax paying citizen especially since their tax dollars are paying this courthouse clerks salaries
That makes about as much sense as telling a gay person he can't check out a book from the library because he's gay even though his tax dollars paid for the library
Churches don't pay a dime in taxes but still want to influence lawmaking

This is exasperating. I can't figure out why we're not connecting here.
We just keep talking past each other and I don't know why.
Okay let's try again. You said that male female marriages have been the the status quo for thousands of years
Then I replied that that doesn't mean a status quo can't change especially when the majority of Americans are not against same-sex marriage.
So why can't the status quo change when the majority of Americans are not against same-sex marriage?

Let me try to help you understand me. I never said status quos do not or cannot change. As you pointed out slavery did . It was just a few years ago civil unions were the thing. Undoing the ugliness of slavery took a war, not the stroke of a pen. What the laws are is not up to me. I am speaking about what i like or wish was . You might have noticed my complaint was mostly against the church for not teaching Biblical marriage. My mine/heart works mostly believing the Bible is a wonderful guide for daily living . As long as mankind is in control i do not want a human form of theocracy , at the same time i support Scripture. I do believe it will be a short time until the homosexual community demands the church of their choice perform the ceremony they choose. This homosexual thing is not about the individual it is about coming against God flashing the sin in His face.

I care more about God's Word being against homosexual activity they the thoughts of American people.

I believe that churches should not have to perform same-sex marriage ceremonies because that's their freedom of religion. That's what the courthouse is for
Couple things here that I've already covered but not allowing same-sex marriage is a religious argument and supreme court has decided that all laws must serve a secular purpose
And I believe all tax paying citizens should be afforded the same privileges

Because the USA Supreme says/does this or that does not make marriage less of a religious sacrament in my eyes or i woudl bet in the eyes of the Lord . One does not need to like the laws of the land back again to the slavery issue.

That's just one guy being an edge lord.
I can find videos of Christians being edge Lords too like Greg Locke accusing women in his church and being witches or that one preacher from Florida who got banned from literally every social media site for advocating violence against LGBT people
Agree .

A church wedding is really just a formality anyway because you're not married until you sign that contract with the state
My late wife and I were married at the courthouse and they asked you if you want to include God in your wedding vows. They do that because not everyone in America is Christian
So if a same sex couple wants to get married, there's no need to involve the churches, that's what the courthouse is for

You were combative with me from the jump when I was just trying to have a civil conversation. Our first exchange was when you called me "lukewarm"because I said I'm centrist
Reason I'm interested is because I feel like both sides are equally ridiculous.

The right. Everyone who disagrees with me hates America
The left.... Everyone who disagrees with me is a Nazi
Me.... You're both stupid
Ooooo k. But how is that not lukewarm?
Just sayin'.

I don't know why we keep going in circles
You said that the status quo has always been male and female marriage
And I said a status quo is the current state of political or social affairs which typically evolves over time is society evolves
And then I gave an example of a status quo changing with the times which is black people not being property anymore and women being able to vote
Then you countered with that's a example of a changing status quo.
I don't understand why this conversation keeps going in circles
I guess i just can't understand how you would take the constitution over the Bible. I mean, is that Christian?
Btw, i am a patriot, and i love our constitution.

Are you a christian , If the word Christian does not suit you are you a believer in Jesus the Christ ? Do you believe the Bible is the Word of God?

A church wedding is really just a formality anyway because you're not married until you sign that contract with the state.

The above line is where we differ I believe the state contract is the formality. The vows i spoke 58 years ago before God is what mattered. It was not a 'church wedding'.

PS a bit misleading .. dad was a pastor he married us in the house'

Because when there are two extremes, the truth is usually somewhere in the middle
The right... Everyone who disagrees with me hates America
The.left.... everyone I don't like is literally Hitler
The centrist.... You're both stupid

I used to be a Christian but I'm not anymore but I have read the Bible and nowhere in the Bible does it say to force your beliefs on others
So by trying to use legislation to stop same-sex couples from getting married, you are forcing your beliefs on others
