How do you talk to a person of the world who argues like a rabid animal? Who believes they're right & does not seek to learn how unimportant the world & its materials are. Who changes their personality without realisation for affectionate interest in a stranger... Its infuriating to see a sibling become like this... its saddening maddening, I'll pray for her & remind her that all her plans of this world will be pointless without God. & she will agree & continue in her way. How do I reach her?

Dear MrHonest,

I can sympathize with your plight because I have several close friends/relatives who are not saved, and it breaks my heart every time I think of them. But I have reluctantly concluded that, unless God tells me directly, it is not up to me to convert them. God is not necessarily looking to us for results. What He asks of us is to stay the course; run the race to completion, as Paul put it, and not compromise our own principles to "fit in" with worldly people.

All you can do is set the example for your sister and pray for her, constantly. If you exhibit enough peace and contentment in your own life, the hope would be that she begins to see the benefits of walking closely with God and ends up wanting what you have. But you need to approach her with love and patience. It will do no good to enter into arguments which neither of you will win.

And remember, all you can do is present your case, in the most patient and loving manner you can. Ultimately, it will have to be God who converts your sister. So don't get discouraged when she ignores you or dismisses your attempts. We must always wait on God to do things according to His timing, not our own.

God be with you in your struggles.

Bro, your sibling is ignoring your words coz she thinks that is how things ought to be. All you have to do is keep on praying for her that God may work a miracle and open her eyes so she may see the light. It might take months maybe years but God is faithful and He hears your prayers. I will say a prayer for her too. God bless

Thank you Dave. Thank you Shemaiah. People can change quite dramatically from youth to "adulthood."

It truly sounds like you are talking about members of my family. Try not to be discouraged. God will in His timing soften her heart to Him whether that is through what you talk to her about or something else (if that's His will).

I like what the others have said to you. Keep positive and living your life unto God, that is a powerful witness. I found that when I stopped arguing with some of my family, they started asking questions and were more willing to listen because they were the ones to bring it up.

God bless!
