How does it misrepresent real Furbies? And what effects might this have on their self image and in society in general? How do you suppose this makes non-Furbies feel? Discuss. ._.

I personally feel their eyelashes are grossly misepresented. And their fur is too plush for the average Furby.

Lol not too sure what Furbyism is or what the controversy here with good old Furby is supposed to be.

However this does remind me of a humorous tradition we have in my town. My friend is one of those rocker personality types and he is a radio DJ and every July 4th he has a big Independence Day Party where we bbq food, lot's of locals show up, lots of fireworks, etc.. We have a long tradition that goes back quite a few years of burning a Furby each July 4th lol. And that's about as much experience with the Furbies as I have lol.

Hm. Does the Burning of the Furby in your opinion serve to decry the awful stereotypes associated with real Furbies? Or does it only perpetuate the sale and therefore misrepresentation of Furbies everywhere since one must first be procured?

Furbinator Chapter 1: Verse 29:

"For if thou shalt stick thy finger in my mouth, I shalt say "yummmm".

Also, how dare you say furbyism is a bad thing! Don't you know how many furby's have been liberated due to the Furby's rights movements? Your just a bitter furbsogynist who use verses to justify your anti-furbiness, although your too uneducated to know that the verses you are using don't mean what they actually say and even if that is what they meant, they are mistranslations anyway!

Furbyism and Christianity are compatible, regardless of what the anti-furbiests say.

lol.....this was a great idea for a thread by the way. Shows how ridiculous the other ones are.
For once we agree. It's time we stopped skirting the issue, set aside our differences and addressed the real threat to society. Until that is accomplished all other concerns are secondary. And extraneous threads serve little purpose.

Until people are willing to understand from a truly humble heart the implications of Luke 3:25 they will occasion pride and contempt to enter in and twist the truth.

the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos,
the son of Nahum, the son of Esli,
the son of Naggai,

(Luke 3:25 / NIV)

The implications of that being.... ?????

It doesn't say the Furby of Esli, does it? That can only mean one thing; nowhere in the Bible does it support Furbyism.

All the more reason to preach the Gospel to those evil critters... ;)

I somehow missed the Furby craze, my children were too old, or too young or something when it happened.

So I guess I am in the dark about this movement. I would love to comment on the theology, the Greek, the Hebrew about this group, but much more research is required. I do know that if it is a cult, I would never join. If they preach dispensationalism the same thing.

But if they are for liberation of the captives, then Jesus loves them. So that settles it!

Wait a minute..... are you telling me that the little fuzzy mechanical robots called Furbies are not real Furbies?!

As for a look into some of my local culture. Well I was not around for DJ Dave's first July 4th Party, however eyewitnesses that were there and my DJ friend himself told me the tradition began something like they were drunk back in highschool on July 4th and lighting off fireworks when they got the bright idea to take the host's (DJ Dave) toy Furby out and doused it with gasoline and caught it on fire.

DJ Dave is a good humored guy and found this to be hilarious. And the guests of the 1st July 4th Party-goers found this to also be so hilarious that they bought him several new Furbies and every July 4th the Burning of the Furby continues. I have only attended this party since I was about 20, (which if my memory serves me correctly would be about the 5th or 6th annual DJ Dave July 4th Party with this year's upcoming party going to be the 11th annual July 4th Bash I think.)

Lol as for motives funny enough last year two other radio DJs that work with my friend Dave attended his party for the first time. When the Burning of the Furby was set to occur in a slightly bemused and confused tone one of them asked the logical question; "Why do you burn a Furby?"

The answer I gave to this goodly person was quite simple lol:

"It's tradition and you don't (expletive) with tradition."
