Most everyone enjoys a good movie! But with all the movies out there nowadays, it's sometimes difficult to decipher what is acceptable; whether you're a family with little ones or just someone looking to watch a great feel-good movie that isn't afraid to mention God!

Know of any good movies you'd like to share? New release or a classic, post them here! Then grab some popcorn, your family, or curl up on the couch and enjoy one from the list! Oh and feel free to add a little synopsis about it, but please, no spoilers! Some of us like the surprise! :D

The first movie I would like to share that is one of my favorites is Despicable Me. :) A wonderfully adorable animation that proves even the coldest hearts have the ability to melt! :)

Lets see... Night At The Museum and Elf .. both hilarious movies that i don't remember there being anything seriously bad in them. I remember walking out of each of those movies with a smile, and thinking how much fun i had watching them, even though i was alone for both. It was a good feeling coming out of a movie i really enjoyed without having any lingering 'why'd they have to add that?' questions.

Ah, yes, Night at the Museum! Great movie! If you can believe it, I've never seen Elf, although I know the movie. Gonna have to add that one to my list of "must see"! :)

The Quiet Man - An oldie starring John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara -
Simply because it was filmed around the area where I was brought up (West Cork).

Beyond the Chalk Board- Hallmark movie based on a true story. Very sweet!

Letter's to God- Be ready to cry, but I found it to be an incredibly moving movie that a variety of ages could watch.

All the animated classics, of course. And you know what i'd put first?

Robots, although a lot of people didn't seem to notice it,

Brother Bear I and II, you remember the mooses, very funny,

Ice Age I, a very witty Mamoth,

Monsters Inc, except for a wee bit scary start for littlies, but they'll forget about that,

Shreik I and III, if you don't mind (excuse me) earwax and worse, very funny, and Shreik the Halls,

Disney's Peter Pan,

Fantasia,

I would say Bambi and Snow White, but there's some scarey scenes, but nowhere as bad as Disney has become (almost the main ookey spookie now. to be avoided)

The Metal Giant

I think you get the idea :)

Oh you've got me started now. Now films with human actors from way back.

You know, ones that actually built character.

We've got to start with The Sound of Music, cause you have to, it's like history, the liberty bell, Old Faithful or something.

Polyanna,

How Green Was My Valley,

The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Some people say Ben Hur. It is life-changing, but it's way long.

Same with Heidi for the girls.

These are from the days before you were allowed to sneeze. And I love 'em.

There's been some fun ones since:

Those Magnificent Men and their Flying Machines,

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World,

The Princes Bride.

All of these films have something extra, and well worthwhile for the family to watch.

'Finding Nemo' is E-X-T-R-A funny after you've lived in Australia. You can see all the Aussie characters : the alcoholics annoymous sharks, the surfer dude turtles and the sea-gulls going "mate, mate, mate" all of the time. I'm living in a cartoon!

the Andy Griffith series is utterly HILAROUS
The Iron Giant is clean and funny tho scary for wee kids and even some adults may cry near the end, but the sorrow is short lived, it ends happy. i wish they had made a sequel to it, it was left wide open for one.
Up was great, once you get past the tear-worthy intro
Hoodwinked is clean, and hilarious, you will be quoting Twitchy and the big bad wolf for the rest of your life. the sequel, hoodwinked too was sorta eh, but not bad either.
Horton Hears a Who is pretty good.
Finding nemo as others have mentioned, same with fireproof, facing the giants, and Faith like potatoes (although i dont recommend the last title for those with small children, there is a very sad, mildly gory scene midway through.
Night at the museum is good, but the sequel, battle for the Smithsonian does have one reference that is rather improper but it is able to be overlooked i think.
the Narnia movies are good, tho some kids might be frightened by them in a few places. but a warning, they dont follow the books AT ALL.
Lord of the Rings is a good teens+ or kids who arent easily frightened by blood fighting and gore.
i dont know about any of the harry potter movies, i havent seen them or starwars.
Back to the Future trilogy is ok for teens+ audiences i believe.
Meet the Robinsons wasnt bad to my knowledge
Everyone's Hero was funny, but the level of innocence teetered on the middling of the scale, you would have to make a personal judgement on it.
How To Train Your Dragon was great, some kids might be frightened by the giant dragon near the end.
i personally didnt really like the princess bride, its not a kids movie in the least, older audiences are ok though.
Monsters Inc is good, as long as kids arent afraid of monsters, and if they are it should teach them to not be afraid of them lol.
i dont remember much of any of the first 2 toy stories, and i havent seen the 3rd yet.
the classic cartoons like Scooby-Doo, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Yogi Bear, Tom & Jerry are great for younger kids, and kids at heart.

As a parent i would preview any movie you plan to watch with your kids before you let them see it and decide for yourself if its appropriate.

If anyone wants a good site to check videos out with, Pluggedin is ok, but personally i prefer IMDB.com, the Internet Movie DataBase is great because its reviews on movies for everyday viewers, by everyday viewers. you get details on whether there is any sex & nudity, profanity, drugs/alcohol, scary/frightening scenes, and other things that you may not want to see, or your children to see. There is also popularity ratings, continuity goofs that are fun to try and pick out, and on the main page info on all the new movies and stuff coming out.

Live_Love_Believe - Monsters Inc. is awesome! Great kids movie but even better for those of us (well, like me) who have yet to completely grow up! :D I also like IMDB and use it often. Also like some others on your list: Back to the Future trilogy, Horton Hears a Who, and regardless of what most people say about them, I do in fact like all the Harry Potters. :) Oh, I almost forgot, Andy Griffith yes! And I like I Love Lucy and The Three Stooges too!

ApostleDisciple - I will have to check that site out as well, thank you! :)
