How often do you fast? Do you think it is working with prayer?

I used to fast for the whole day, drinking just water one a week. And it rally helped me feel closer to God, realize the Scriptures better, and feel happier.

Then, after relocation, I stopped fasting. Right now, I am going back to it. And I can tell that I love it! Whenever I fast and pray, God rewards me with miracles in such situations that are practically unbelievable.

Because of the withdrawal of sugar and caffeine, I have severe headaches because of fasting. I would love to go on a 3-day fast. Have any of you done this? How did you prepare yourself?

Blessings!!! God is good.

Precious,

I fast each day the first two meals, so basically I don't eat breakfast or lunch............most of the time...........If I have a lot of physical work, during one of those days, then I will eat.......

Be blessed in this......GOD seriously rewards those who sacrifice anything to HIM , for HIM................HE is very pleased with this......

The longest I ever fasted is 7 days, but I did not do it correctly, because I drank coffee, while I was fasting, and I like my coffee with cream and sugar.......NOT GOOD.....While GOD did indeed honor the fast, my body was having a not so pleasant time with it.......

So now I just offer up the first 2 meals to HIM and the rewards are HEAVENLY...........To say the least.

I'm fasting food. I still drink my coffee. I do that all day till dinner time. Yes it brings us closer with God and he can reveal what ever he wants to us.
Your young and healthy I would guess? Just talk to the Lord. He will honor what you do. I hear people who go on long fast and they make sure to drink water.
As long as your heart is given to God and its not a show for people around you, you'll be ok.

fastinc can be done by anything I think. If I fasted with food, I'd be underweight within a week...
there are other things one can fast on.... TV, Internet, bad habits etc... :)

Just a tip I wished I knew the first time I fasted when I heard it later - I was told that as far as your health is concerned, it should take you the same number of days that you fasted for, to re-build your diet. Don't fast for a week and then feast straight away at the end. For example, if you fast for three days, it should take you a further three days to build to the point of eating full portions again. So if you are planning a three day fast you should prepare yourself to be out of action (normal activity that would require a lot from you physically) for at least six days. Always drink plenty of water, do your homework and plan properly for your physical intentions so that you can focus on your spirit during the fast. I didn't used to be, but I am now hypoglycemic because of a history of not eating properly regularly enough (not because of fasting for spiritual reasons but just genreal neglect), and if old eating habbits were to continue now it could very well develop into diabetes. Because of my hypoglycemia I get dizzy and weak when I go too long without eating, or don't get enough water, or do too much exercise for the amount I have eaten. Yet, when I fast for spiritual reasons and am certain that it's what God has lead me to do, I never have a problem. I get hungry and have to press through the sensations like any fasting person, but I don't get sick and weak. Even so I remain aware of what my body is doing (but don't focus on it since a time of fasting is all about extra focus on the spiritual) and know better than to test God, jumping randomly off buildings and just expecting him to catch me.

I so encouraged by your responces. And it is true, that when I personally fast, no one knows about it, and i just try to have a normal life, without being gloomy. It is just strange that somebody can do it for show.
