Anything by Dostoevsky, CS Lewis, GK Chesterton, or JRR Tolkien. Fiction, non-fiction. They all have something wonderful to say.

Grand Theft Jesus (the hijacking of religion in America) by Robert S. McElvaine.

"Robert McElvaine reveals with startling clarity that much of the religious establishment in America has become like the religious establishment that betrayed Jesus. Grand Theft Jesus is at times funny, at times infuriating, but always on target. It should be read by everyone who proclaims the name of Jesus." - Dr. Obery M. Hendricks Jr. (Author of "The Politics of Jesus" )

I really enjoy reading The Everyday Life Bible with commentary by Joyce Meyer! She incorporates everyday life situations to the Bible that helps the reader relate even more so to God's word who may otherwise have trouble understanding. :)

A few other Christian/God centered books at the top of my list are:

- The Shack by William Paul Young
- A Day with a Perfect Stranger by David Gregory
- The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom
- Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo with Lynn Vincent

Save Me From Myself - Brian 'Head' Welch. This is the story of the former guitarist of secular band Korn. Starts out when he is young, in a poor family in CA and how he took off to become a millionaire rock star. With a serious drug addiction. The birth of his daughter is the beginning of his realization that his life needs to change. So he finds God, quits his band and learns some powerful lessons along the way. Very inspiring and is a great showing of how powerfully God can change someones life and heart. Even those we may look at and think they have it all.
There are two versions of this book, an 'unedited' one, and a 'youth group' version which cuts out some of the language and i think a few details, mostly from the 'presalvation' days.
I believe he's written another book since, that i've yet to read, but look forward to one day. Even if you aren't a fan of Korn i still suggest it as its a great story of salvation and change.

God can't sleep- Palmer Chinchen

The book leaves you bothered! He doesn't sugarcoat any of his real life experiences in ministry work. Heart breaking and encouraging stuff is all I can really say. It kind of makes you want to get up and run from a comfortable lifestyle that most Americans( including myself :p) fall into...

Ugly,

I seen his book at Border's before they closed. Would really like to read that one! I used to listen to Korn back in the day so it would be very interesting to see the incredible change made in his life! :)

In terms of fiction books, Francine Rivers has written an awesome series called Mark of the Lion. Hadassah, the main character, is a Christian woman. Her trials, tribulations and faith in action make a fantastic fiction read, in comparison to a lot of the other fiction books on the shelves. I love reading Christian fiction.
Blessings!

Received this morning my 'prayers that avail much' by Germaine Copeland.
From the brief flick through, it contains scriptual prayers for a lot of different practical circumstances. I got the 3 in 1 volume, looks great and will be a blessing! :)

I found that this book is REALLY good for those who are new believers in Christ and saved!!! It's a book on learning how to pray, so many people want to leran how to pray and ask me how to start praying to God...

but please to not take offense to the title.... I do not think you're an idiot for not knowing how to pray... lol... i never knew much how to pray when I first started out also!!! :DDD!!!

It's called The Complete Idiots Guide to Prayer!!! Please check it out!!! If you are a fairly new CHristian, or just looking for something good to read, and want to find yourself in prayer also!!! :DDD!!

Prayer Can Change Your Life by William Parker

It is out of print, but you can get it used at Amazon.
It is the story of 45 people with problems who were put in groups of 15. One group went to a psyciatrist, one prayed alone for half an hour daily, and one met as a group to study prayer and use what scripture said about it. The end of the book gives the results for each group. Most of the book is about what the group decided about the way to pray effectively and the results for various individuals. Very thought provoking. It changed my life!
