Basically I want to be a better Christian. I'm going to church every Sunday, I fast and I pray. Last night to celebrate my 30th birthday I don't want my cousin to a bar we drank and guys grinding on me I had only done that one other time last month. This morning I woke up and I felt dirty and horrible. I feel depressed because I'm 30 years old and I live with my parents. More than anything I want to get married and have a family of my own, but I don't know what to do or where to meet anybody. So this morning I woke up and I just prayed. How can I be a better Christian?
To be a better Christian is to believe and follow the Word of God. The feelings you had post-birthday celebrating were likely the Holy Spirit working in you. But there is good news in Lamentations 3:22-23 - 22 It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Confess and truly repent (change the behavior) to move past this. And allow yourself to feel His forgiveness. As for the living at home, is there a reason? Are you tending to ailing family? Adding funds to cover household expenses? If they will be okay without your financial support, study your spending to see where you could start saving for a deposit. Tend to any major debts to improve your credit score if needed. Make a plan and do your best to stick to it. Church is a great place to meet people. Allow God to guide your path to the person he has planned for your life. You can do all of this with God. Blessings on your journey.[FONT=&quot]

Just wanted to stop in and say that YOU are PRECIOUS in the eyes of GOD! He loves endures forever. May the LOVE of Christ encompass you day by day by day...<3
You are being lifted in prayer right now! No sweeter gift, other than Salvation...at least in my opinion! Also be reminded that NO One single person is perfect...ONLY Our Creator and King! :)

Hey girl! Thank you for your honesty and your heart. The yearning to be closer to the Lord is a natural step in our walk with Him. Happy Birthday by the way! We all walk out of bounds every now and then and the next morning is never a fun reality, but the way you respond is what is important. Giving up would be the wrong response, learning from your sin and asking for forgiveness is the way the Bible calls us to respond. He forgives, so we must forgive. This goes for forgiving yourself too and moving through it. Becoming a better Christian doesn’t involve steps it involves growth in our relationship to the Lord. Stay in the Word, surround yourself with people who encourage that growth and fix your eyes on Him. Praying for you. He’s got you - Rachel

The only way to be a better Christian is to follow Christ more closely. There are disciplines, like prayer, reading the Bible, meditating on the Word, fellowship, worship and service. But those are only a means to an end. The end is Jesus. He is also the beginning and the middle, and everything else.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2

Dear SundayMorning88, thank you for sharing your post with us. Happy 30[SUP]th[/SUP] Birthday, my friend! Praise God for your trust in Him. I’m glad to know that you surrender to God. Praise God! God is always good all the time.. I think you have the answers that all your questions. Jesus is the answer to Our life and desires of happiness. In regards to your question what you can do to be closer of Our Lord Jesus Christ, having the same thoughts, feelings and deeds of Our Lord Jesus. Being others Jesus to others. Love, forgive, and look at others like Jesus does with mercy. I encourage you to know Jesus through His Sacred Word. Do not get tired to proclaim his Gospel, not just words but with our actions, with our life. That does mean that all your deeds glorify Our Lord, taking His Light to everyone, to everywhere. Forgive others, situations and yourself. God cannot live in a heart with resentments. Please do not feel guilty if you are living at home with your parents however I encourage you to pray to God for discernment that what does He want you to do for your life and also to pray for the person that you want to get married to that God leads you in this wonderful journey. Sending you hugs. I will keep you in my prayers.

I have been an active Christian and a part of the evangelical Christian subculture for over 42 years. I went to a good Christian college and even attended seminary a little bit. I have read countless Christian books and spent much time actively studying the Bible.

The best thing I can tell you, or anyone else, to do to grow and mature is to learn more about God's love for you and love Him back for all you are worth. As you do this, you will understand God's love for others more and want to reflect His love to the world around you.

To understand more about God's love for you read through the Gospel of John several times. The more you understand about God's love for you the more you will learn to love Him back. If this is you primary goal, the rest of this "Christianity" thing will just sort of happen.

P.S. It will also help you attract the kind of man you really want to marry.
