This is a group for men only. The purpose of this group is for men of all ages to help each other overcome various sexual addictions. You yourself know which ones you struggle with.

I found a severe need for this type of group on this website and a severe lack of similar groups. I believe its because men are too embarrassed about this. Being embarassed wont help you stop. This is a men's only group because many men are embarrassed to discuss this in the open forum where women can read it. That is understandable. Most men don't like the idea of women knowing that they have these problems.

If you need help, please consider joining. Nobody will judge you. Lets just help each other stop.

Point of this group:

1: Discuss our sexual addiction problems

2: Never ever judge each other at all costs!!!!

2: Pray for each other

3: Offer advice on things that have worked for us in the past

4: Offer real solid advice for young men who never had a sexual relationship before, but their body demands it. Something very important and rarely discussed!!!!!!

Please join. Do it for yourself. Do it for your family. God Bless.

By the way, if you are interested in joining, you don't have to reply to this post. Just send me a personal message to join the group. This is a moderated group. Only members of the group can read the posts in the group. This is private, and everything you say will be kept private.

I hope this happens! I don't see why the women have one and not the men. Good idea!

Because the men are too embarrassed. But if women are not too embarassed to admit such a thing, why should we be? First step to getting help is admitting you have a problem.

Well I have to approve whoever joins, and I can see if the user is male or female. I don't think women would register as males in order to get into the group. That is pretty low. So don't worry.

Nobody has joined yet. Why not?

On the other sites i've tried every mens forum i've seen has barely been used, sometimes going months without a single post.

Yea nobody joined and nobody has posted and nobody cares. Sigh. I am disappointed. I actually wish I could get back the 20 minutes I spent on creating this group that nobody is ever going to use. Complete and total waste of my time.

I was looking forward to getting help myself by sharing experiences with people and seeing what worked for them. But thats not gonna happen.

What will happen is. Every time someone asks about porn on this forum, someone will reply by giving a link to a website or a scripture verse and think that will solve the person's problem. It never helped me, and it never helped other guys. I know this because I saw them come back and start a new discussion hoping to get a different result. But there never is one.

I think its because a lot of responders have no experience, or real knowledge of the subject, but still think that's enough to hand out help.
And it seems most people going through it seem to avoid accountability, such as a group for support.

There is a need for a men's only group. I hope it takes off and as far as women joining by lying, well that would just be disgusting. I mean, I would not want a man to lie to join the woman's group. Come on people!!! We need to help and support each other, but sometimes it is much better to talk with someone of our own gender.

God Bless you for starting this and give it time... maybe announce it in chat or keep posting so the word gets out.

Hello Gene,

You idea is a good one.One problem I see is it is poorly fleshed out. Men work from a point of structure best. This structure has not been openly defined yet. Let me give you an example of a better structure:

Attention Men:

I Have founded a Men's Sexual Addiction and Recovery Group here on Christian Chat. We are going to meet once a week on Monday's at 7 pm est. We will be using the resource material, "Faithful and True" workbook by Mark Laaser. I recommend anyone that is serious about gaining control of any sexual addiction in their life get their own copy of this workbook (sold at most Christian book retailers) and join this group. The group is completely confidential and Christ centered. Any man serious about breaking the cycle of sexual addiction need only send me (Gene aka. ungenius) an email to join. Serious men only, Sexual Addiction is no joke, its not a game and if you have hurt enough come and recieve instruction, healing and accountability.

The other info you listed is nice but not structured. Even this will not guarantee that men will come or at least not quickly. The other half to to keep the knowledge of the groups existence and the awareness of the issue on the forefront. To do that, weekly bump the thread with a weekly message on sexual addiction. It can be about the dangers, the stats, healing but it must be mission focused.

Hope this helps you. Don't give up.

In Christ,

Bishop SEH

Please Invite More Men!
If you had read the previous posts in the thread you will have seen that he has had problems trying to get people to join. Its not that he isn't inviting, its that people aren't joining.

Also, the point of the group is to talk within the group, so to keep posting in this thread defeats the purpose of joining the group. You should post any more comments on the group, in the group.
