I never put myself out there really, this is the first time.

I've entered this competition, a big one and it's one of them where all your fb and twitter friends have to vote.

I have loads of Christian brothers and sisters on my social networks that I thought would support me but it feels like they don't want me to have any success. I'm always happy to support others!

I have over 1000 fb 'friends' and only 300 votes, most of which are from close friends, family and old school friends. I know that they are aware of the competition but theyre just not voting

I'm kind of frustrated and I'm questioning there authenticity.

Making me feel down.

Has anyone else experience this? Where non-christian friends are supportive and Christian ones are not??

Could it be that the subject matter of the competition is somehow not in accord with christian values? That's the first thing that came to mind when I read your post.

Well I would suggest that noone can maintain 1000 friends, and facebook isn't the best social concept. I do not and will not ever vote on anything like that, that is not what I use facebook for. Doesn't mean I don't love and support my friends on facebook, I just don't support facebook and any of its affiliates and so will not be involved in anything that promotes that type of social life.

No joke....people will let you down! But is it really fair to put these unrealistic expectations on them in the first place? Do not let your self-esteem depend on other people's responses. But put your self-image and self-worth in the hands of your Creator Who is the Only one that can correctly judge your weaknesses AND your strengths.

Keep in mind that cyberspace has it's limits. People can pretend here very easily and we can all be misled if we're not careful.

Spend time in meditation on God's Word...He will show you what you need to know :) (and with 'real' people)

This is excellent advice. I often chuckle at the notion of "friends" on facebook. After all, how many of them can you say you have actually met? How many have you had a meaningful conversation with? A person is blessed if they have a handful of true "friends" in their whole lifetime. You would have better luck, I'm pretty certain, with the congregation of your local church (if you have one).

I am reminded of James' warning in his letter to the early church, "You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." (James 4:4)

Nuff said.

God bless you.

I know, for myself, i don't give a crap about most things on FB. I do have one, i barely use. I don't play games, join clubs etc. If someone asks me to vote, i'm not likely to. Not because of them, but because i think its stupid and a waste of time. Could be that those others may feel the same way. Chances are there are a number of reasons, though. Some may have forgotten. Or maybe had the wrong time frame. Maybe haven't been on much. To just assume that every person doesn't care about you that didn't vote is a bad idea. 700 people can't be accounted for with one reasoning.
And really, 1000 people? Chances are you don't even know most of them really. They're all strangers, so seriously, why should they even give a crap about your competition? You're taking things personal because a bunch of people that don't know you didn't vote for you.

I am not 'anti-facebook' by nature. But in your case, i agree, you need to delete it and forget it because its obviously having a negative effect on how you view yourself, and others and you seem to be confusing FB 'friends' with what a real, true friend is. Unplug, dude, unplug.

you should thank God for the 300 who did support you instead of gripping about the ones who for one reason or another did not choose to vote.

personally I wouldn't vote on a facebook competition. it seems wrong.

its it like "American Idol" or involve money?

Maybe it isn't an issue of loyalty so much as it is your GOTV method.
