In today's economy, do you think it's possible for a family to survive on one income? Back in the day all women were housewives...but these days, about 70% of mom's (or so), are in the work force, along with their husbands. I think alot of children are getting the bad end of the stick in this situation..because they are stuffed in day cares and such. I think it's important for the parents to do the loving and disciplining of their children. Anyway, if it is possible to survive on one income... is it smart? Do you have to cut a lot of corners? I'd like everyone's opinion. :)
I say yes but like everyone else, it all depends on a variety of factors. But I think the most important thing to do is to pray about it if it's something that's affect your family directly.

Matthew 6:31-34 (Actually, verses 25 - 34 is a good read.)
So do not worry, saying, "What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "What shall we wear?" For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Yes, one is.
But then again, thesedays we tend to get more than we actually need.
So it depends if you only buy what you need or if you buy what you want.

It really boils down to what you expect. My hubby and I have always lived on one income. We never had enough to go to one of the many big family resorts, or a big house, or buy all the big toys. But we all can have fun where ever we are. Camping is great memories. And all our children can fix their cars, manage a budget, and are content in what they have and where they are. I would not trade the closeness that we all have because we can speak without saying a word. But we all talk because we can. And no one needs to explain why. We are always broke, but rich in company and love. We do take for granted that mom always knows what they need, feel, and love. And sick days are precious memories. Dad is respected for his sacrifices.
If you can one income makes sure that home is always there and open.
But if you both have to work, the one thing that still is great and not mesured is the love you share.
If you are going to rely on one income it is best to begin with living on one income. Just put all the second job supplies before children in savings so you are not used to the extra when it comes to a budget. The biggest and hardest hurdle is adjusting to one income once you decide that is how you want to live. Many friends of our had the hardest time adjusting from two incomes.
Good luck and God bless, pickles

That sounds great! My family has never been close, even when I was little...so all I can hope for is to have a close family in the future. And i think it's great to show your kids how to be thrifty and good with money and such! Thanks for sharing!

Yes, i thnk a family can survive in one income. depends on the lifestyle you're both in. With one income, you'll have to cut it no many corners. With the two of you working, liquidity is better and cash flow is faster. Really depends on how many kids, type of house, household and kids you have. We never live beyond our means.
