The Jewish Passover was committed unto the Hebrews who were in captivity to the Egyptian Pharaoh. They were commanded to apply the blood of an unblemished lamb to their doorposts so the angel of death would pass over their home.
Exodus 12:1-13

In Ex. 11:4-10, God said that He would cause every firstborn of every person In Egypt to die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh to the firstborn of slaves, and everyone in between, including even cattle. However, in Exodus 12: 1-13, God provided a way of escape from death for His own people, God promised that when He passed through Egypt on this night that if He saw the blood painted there, He would pass over that home and spare its occupants from death.

God has provided us Jesus, the way, the truth & the life, as our final Passover Lamb, one whom will take away the sins of the world, to all whom will believe and call upon his name.

Romans 5:8-10
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

We must have his blood covering applied to our hearts through hearing the gospel, believing in our heart and repenting of our
sinful state to be reconciled to God.
( Romans 10:9-18 )

1 Corinthians 5:7
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

This is our born-again promise to escape the second death after judgement.

Let us look to the Lamb of God who takes away our sins and who is our covering of righteousness before God !
