I just want to talk to one person at a time and not a whole forum of people. Is that possible? If so then how do I do that?

Who would you like to talk to, Male or Female.. You can pm a person. When you have more then one person , you have different views which all might help you. Also if you single out one person they might not know how to help. What I would do is say I need help with this , and if you have any thoughts on it can you please send me a message.

I have an issue I have been dealing with for over 40 years and have not been able to overcome it. This issue is lust. I have prayed and asked God to help me with this for as long as I can remember. I don't have a problem with pornography and have been celibate for quite some time now, yet I continue to have lustful thoughts in my head and begin to act on them in ways I would rather not say. When this happens I ask God for forgiveness and tell him that I repent from this sin in what I believed was a totally sincere way yet I continuously return right back to it. My question is, if I cannot break this cycle, will I be able to make it into Heaven? The guilt from this has consumed me and has become a stronghold that is severely hindering my spiritual walk.

Peace to you brother. Know that you are not alone in any aspect of what you describe your struggle to be.

The guilt alone of this struggle nearly destroyed me and my family. I KNOW i could never have stopped or even gotten better except from the Lord and His mercy and Grace. I'd deeply encourage you to youtube the series on sex our Pastor did 6-8 months ago. Fairview Village Church series crazy sex. Men's brains can form addiction pathways on sex very easily. THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR OR TO SIN. Merely a biological fact. We STILL inhabit our fleshly bodies, and will still be tempted in various ways with them.
Jesus' Grace is sufficient. My love and gratitude for Him, and keeping my focus on what He has done for me, has been instrumental in overcoming lust.

I pray in Jesus' name that He helps you overcome this sin.

Thank you brother for your encouragement and your prayer. I will look that video up on YouTube very soon. I pray also that God continues to lead and guide you and watch over you and your family in Jesus's name.

I will not PM you to help for obvious reasons. (I'm a gal and you're a guy. Nothing personal.) I can give you a book that helped me on the "Why me, God?" issue.

We all have "Why me, God" issues. They just come in different forms. The book is about people struggling with physical disabilities, but, if you think about it, aren't you describing a mental disability? I'm not saying something is mentally wrong with you, at least, not as it is said in today's terms. I'm saying in the war between flesh and God, flesh wins often because of what we naturally think. We are born thinking wrong, and only God can bring us to thinking right, so, honestly? I really hope you get that we all are mentally disabled in sin.

If you can see that you are no more different than physically disabled people (and physically disabled people are no more different than anyone else when it comes to the mental disability of sin), I can then recommend a book that will explain to you why God chose you to have a disability with lust for your good and his glory. (Rom. 8:28 reference.)

The book is When God Weeps. (The subtitle is "Why Our Suffering Matters to the Almighty," just so you understand this is a book that will help you see why you've been stuck with lust for the last 40 years.)

It's not really a big secret, but Joni and Steve explain it in full detail. The problem with sin is thinking it is ours to overcome. If we couldn't overcome it on our own before God regenerates us, why do we keep thinking we can do it on our own now? (We do, but that's where we keep getting stuck. lol) This book will teach you what is needed so you don't have to keep repenting after the fact. (And, to be clear, we're still disabled in thought, so we will continue to have to repent after, but this book helps explain a strategy that brings us to God before, instead of permanently after.)

ken i want to build on what penned said. i think a lot of it's in our heads. we THINK we want... a bigger car, a better girl friend, more money. we were hard wired with basics to help us procreate, survive, etc, both genders. God issues them out at birth and we distort them. overeatting, sexaholics, politics you name it. i think it helps a lot to know we are not puppets, we can use self control and thrive. if that makes sense.
