I once felt intimidated! Because of that I missed a good woman. And that moment I felt offended when being asked, so i decided I liked that woman and would hate her mother... Today it would be different. If I see them CONCERNED FOR HER DAUGHTER it would be OK to talk, but if I see them judgmental, I'd send them to give a ride their dog... Additionally, that would give ANT change to know that family and, if I see that healthy, that would bring both safety to be married. If it is upsetting, I know what to do (my relationship would be to ONE, her family cannot be mine).
So, in the long run, that will give you MORE than you could lose. Ask them to to SEE WHO THEY REALLY ARE. They're not judges, but they want to know if you are an asset for their children.

Being a believer, I would expect the family to be very interested in where I am in my Christian walk if I were dating their Christian son.
. Dating sometimes leads to marriage. Marriage makes strangers family. I want Christians as family members..not atheists. So I would be asking quite a lot of things! ( but in a kind way).
