I think you should get him to sign over his parental rights and waive child support.

Your son is two. if he hasn't told his mom yet about him, he is NOT going to for whatever reason.

My advice is to cut ties with him NOW and don't try to get the back child support. He sounds unstable and will cause you and your son heartache later by trying to get child custody or something to make YOU pay child support (i've seen it happen)

as for you son, I would tell him the truth. You love him enough for two people and maybe one day when your father grows up and becomes more responsible, he might get to meet your son.

I have a few friends who are single parents and the stories they tell me are not great.

One dad said he finally got custody from his daughter's mother when she was 3 years old. She was molested by her mom's druggie boyfriend and didn't speak at all.

Another mom said she allowed her 7 year old visit his father for a week and when he was dropped off. he had sores on his mouth were the poison of a brown recluse spider bite had spread through his bloodstream. when she asked him why he didn't take their son to the hospital, his response was it was not his responsibility. he refused to keep insurance on his son, calls him fat and tears down his self confidence. She tells me she wishes she had cut him out of her son's life early on.

sometimes the safety of your child should supercede being "polite"

as for the grandmother, how do you know she is someone you want around your son?

Trust me sweetie california laws for child support blah! I asked the judge to close the case and sign his rights over but in order to do that him and i have to sign
Him over to adoption agency or my future husband has to adopt him. I cant just drop it so thats a killer. Pretty much im 16 years dealing with this which is breaking me cause i have lupus and arthritis and always sick but still do my duty as a mommy. I go to court aug 15 cause hes in contempt and gonna just tell the judge whats
Going on with me

Hmmm... I would want to know if I had a grandchild which I know all 18 of them but that is me. Did you consider that the grandmother may not be a very nice person and the father of your child may have suffered abuse at her hand? Did you have the occasion to meet her at all or live in a community where you know 'something' about her? Don't be fooled by outward appearances though because people have been called the most upstanding, wonderful people you could ever know but been found guilty of various abuses and murder.
In your situation I would pray for God's help. I remember my one son wanted to see his sons really bad as he hadn't seen them for about a year but they were visiting in a nearby town but their mom said 'no'. My son phoned me crying and so we prayed then I told him to believe that he would get to see them the coming weekend. My son called me back a couple of days later as happy as could be. The boys mother called and said they would be in town on Friday and he could see them for a while. When you pray, believe you have received.
