Hello Forum Fam'!

Alright, I'll jump right into it - but don't judge me... haha :)

Has anyone else in the Christian community experienced an intense desire to do something illegal? I'm talkin' armed robbery, graffiti, assault, pickpocketing... pretty much anything that is intense and exciting. Personally, I've contemplated all of the crimes mentioned, never done them, but fanticized about some of them - especially robbery and graff. I'm wondering why I'm so enticed by these things when the rest of people are seemingly disgusted by them and fully satisfied and infatuated in their boring lives (e.g following their favorite tv show, video games, chasing girls, failing school (lol) and sports)?

Please tell my I'm not the only person to think about these things! :D

Ephesians 5: 10-14 Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, rebuke and expose them. It is shameful to even think about what the ungodly people do in secret. But, when the light shines on them, it becomes clear how evil these things are. And, where your light shines, it will expose their evil deeds.

Galatians 5: 22 But, when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, He will produce this kind of fruit in us: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.

Colossians 3: 5, 6 So, put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual sin, impurity, lust, and shameful desires. Don't be greedy for the good things of this life for that is idolatry. God's terrible anger will come upon those who do such things.

Well I use to be a thief who would break in to houses and cars, in the middle of the day. It was quite a rush but, after growing up a little I try to imagine how it would feel to come home from work and see that my stuff was gone, and it makes me feel ashamed. Because of the way that I was I am having alot of trouble finding any kind of job, even though it's been like almost 6 years since I got my last felony.
It might seem cool but there is nothing cool about crime.

You're probably not implying this, but you know, just because an activity isn't dramatic or trendy such as robbing a bank or graffitiing, it doesn't make it ''boring''. I personally think it's awesome when people stick to their guns and enjoy activities which may see them labelled as ''boring'' or ''nerdy'', at least they know they're being true to God and to themselves :). I don't blame you for being on your current line of thinking though, I used to be the same. I just wish I had more sense earlier on in my life.

Not yet, but I'm sure when I'm 18+ I'll be thinking about statutory rape (AKA consensual sex with my 15/16 year old girlfriend). I know I SHOULDN'T think about those things, but I'm 100% sure some thoughts will slip from time to time =p

At some stage we all think about going off the deep end, for me it was just a way to answer feeling restless and not wanting to conform to rules I had no part in making and plenty that I didn't agree with.

I've always thought the reason it's enticing is not so much the excitement, danger and laziness that most petty criminals would cite as motivation, it's more a case of actions expressing thought and desire, in most cases a desire to have a life different to the one being faced and to have a sense of freedom from restriction, one of the few constants in life is that there will always be someone telling you what you can or can't do and what's right by them, stealing and smashing make for a nice feeling of freedom and supremacy.

Nope, Not about robbing a bank, One of the commandements "Do Not steal"
So i am 100% sure i DONT want to rob a bank, I know that i would NOT be able to live with myself.
Graffiti well... i wrote on a table about 4 years ago.... got caught it was considered graffiti & Thank God i dint go to jail or anything, instead i went to saturday school & cleaned off that table...That was some HARD scrubbing...
Stupid mistake i'll tell you that.
I dont smoke & i dont plan on starting,
I dont drink & i dont plan especially because of the hangover part.

To be honest i dont think about ANY of that illegal stuff for me to do.
Thank God he has put it in me to not want to do those =D

Now theres one i have trouble with... fighting or wanting to hit a person or fight when they keep pushing me.... like slutty girls & liars who accuse me of certain things i DINT do or say...
But God is working thorugh me to not do those things =)

You need to read more......you got too much idle time on ya hands LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
The Bible would be a good book to start with............. & if you got all this energy go volunteer with those who actually do steal or graf.

I was given scripture to give you...so I will let the Bible speak for itself...so I pray you open your ears and hear, listen to the context, and especially the last few verses

The woman Folly is loud;
she is seductive and knows nothing.
She sits at the door of her house;
she takes a seat on the highest places of the town,
calling to those who pass by,
who are going staight on their way,
"Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!"
And to him who lacks sense she says,
"Stolen water is sweet,
and bread eaten in secret is pleasant."
But he does not know that the dead are there,
that her guests are in the depths of Sheol [basically HELL].

Proverbs 9:13-18

See SIN is often enticing just as it was to Eve, but afterwards it just bring disaster and rots all your teeth (to use somewhat of a metaphor)...and how this proverb describes the desire to rebel and sin is exactly how it will feel, perhaps a little rush because your not on the staight path anymore, but than you find that your heart has been corrupted and perhaps you do care about who you stole from? Then you are tormented by that...perhaps you do not care who you stole from? Than your heart has turned colder....and with graffitti, its just destroying something thats not yours...how would you feel is someone grafittied your car or house? Probably pretty upset.

But to answer your question, yes I have had a strong impule to graffitti many things in different places, just to try and make thoughtless people think and remember...but I have always turned away from this crooked path.

God bless--I hope this helps.

The devil puts thoughts in your head sometimes about those type of things. You have to cast them out in Jesus Christ name. If you fantasize about them sooner or later you will do them.I have had these thoughts too most Christians have because Satan tries to destroy what God has built in you which is a temple to him.

Well Doodles if i must say, I respect your honesty it shows me a lot about you. My opinion is that everyone has thought about something illegal before and has probably went through with it. You going and robbing a bank is no different, in God's eyes, than someone taking a pencil that doesnt belong to them in school. The main thing is to make sure that you listen to God in all things. A lot of people can tell you a lot of things, but the only voice you need to listen to is God. I know most of the times in these forums people take your words and twist them, so I am going to be clear. IN NO WAY AM I TELLING YOU TO DISOBEY YOUR PARENTS. God Bless you brother!

Wow, almost everyone's comments were very insightful and helpful - thanks

@Pinapple Thanks bruh, after thinking about it I agree with you. The normal non-exciting things in life are what we're given and I should be satisfied with 'em.
@BillytheKid I agree, all sins at pretty much equal - but some have worse consequences. I completely agree, the only voice I should be listening to is God - and God clearly states that these things are sinful...
@Wootie Hahahah! Truth, I must have too much time on my hands...
@glenwood74 ... thanks for sharing those. They're right on - very applicable to my question.
