I would recommend that patience and Understanding be granted to your child. Why? Because their Sinful Nature has yet to be removed.

Colossians 2:11, 13 NLT - "When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature. ... 13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins."

In Romans chapter 7, Paul talks about this life . . . life [before] the Sin Nature is cut away, which is why he takes only partial responsibility for his sins.

Romans 7:18 NLT - "And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can't."

Colossians was written [after] Romans, thus we are able to conclusively determine that Paul was referring to his "Old Man" (in Romans) that had yet been relieved of the Curse of the Lord. This explains the two passages below, also in Romans chapter 7:

Romans 7:17, 20 NLT - 17 "So I am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. ... 20 But if I do what I don't want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it."

And this is how it is for all who have yet to have the Curse of the Lord dealt with by Christ. Our hearts must be Purified and lifted of the Curse of the Lord. Until this happens, there is no hope.

A change of heart, produced by the Spirit, must be completed.

Romans 2:29 NLT - "No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by God's Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people."

And this change of heart is now available to even the Gentiles . . . it is the same Work as was performed in the Old Testament for our Patriarchs. Is there any other way that David could have written about how thankful he was for his Salvation? And how else could Abraham have been Blameless before God? How could our Patriarchs be Pure [before] Christ had died?

Deuteronomy 30:6 KJV - "And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live."

Isn't it sad that our pastors are not teaching us these things? The answers are in the Bible, but we cannot wait for our pastors and teachers to show them to us . . . it doesn't seem that they want us to be aware of them, so we must discover the Truth on our own. I am very sorry.

I agree. But their is consequences to sin also. That is the balance for the parent. Patience? Yes. Understanding? Sure. But still it doesn't always negate consequences. Especially a long train of misbehavior. Even God isn't patient forever and eventually disciplines His children. Discipline doesn't mean it is without understanding. Sometimes understanding is why we discipline.

He has accepted Jesus as his Savior so in many things he knows it is sin but disobeyed both God's Word and us. Of course, their is a lot of sin in ignorance but once corrected, there are plenty of backsliding. Typical teen but mixed with psychological issues like bipolar.

The "Veil" is representative of the Sin Nature. But when this Veil, or Sin Nature is removed, we will be Transformed. Our hearts will be changed.

2 Corinthians 3:14-18 NLT - "But the people's minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. 15 Yes, even today when they read Moses' writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand. 16 But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord--who is the Spirit--makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image."

This is also clearly written of in both Ezekiel chapters 11 and 36 in regards to the Jews. However, because there is only "one Faith," the below description of the Work and Effect of Christ applies to all . . . including the Grafted-In Gentiles.

Ezekiel 11:19-20 NLT - "And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart, so they will obey my decrees and regulations. Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God."

The Work of Christ is to Purify the heart. The Effect of Christ is a changed heart. If a heart has not been changed, it is because the Sinful Nature remains . . . the Curse of the Lord has not been disassociated from the heart.

These things that I have listed above are the utter Core of the Bible. The Bible is written around Circumcision. In fact, the Trinity performs Circumcision of the Heart.

Deuteronomy 30:6 states that God Circumcises the heart.
Romans 2:29 states that the Spirit produces a changed heart.
Colossians 2:9-15 shows that it is Christ who Circumcises the heart.

A True Child of God Will change . . . there can be no other way. We MUST know these things if we are to exercise genuine patience not only with our children, but with all people . . . including ourselves.

Yes but change happens over time. A child is easier to discipline but if a teen decides they will not obey the rules of the house that does not give them a good reason to abuse patience.

. . . When a heart has been Purified by the Hands of Christ, it's difficult to disobey.

Do you recall when your heart was circumcised of the Sin Nature? Do you recall how drastically your mind and thinking had changed once the Curse of the Lord was lifted from your heart? This would be your Roman's 12:2 Transformation story. Would you like to share how you have changed, now that Christ has Purified your heart, causing you to escape the corruption in the world . . . now that you have received the Divine Nature?

2 Peter 1:3-4 KJV - "According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that [pertain] unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."

When the Sin Nature is cut out by Christ and replaced with the Divine Nature, it is impossible to think the same, or be the same.

Ezekiel 36:25-27 KJV - "Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them."

As the text above states, the Lord Circumcises hearts so that we will obey. But, most people do not understand these Scriptures because their hearts have not actually been Cleansed by Christ. No one can understand the Mysterious Plan of God unless their heart has been lifted of corruption (that causes Spiritual Blindness). Once the heart has been Purified by Christ, Understanding becomes possible. And when Understanding has been granted, Knowledge is given. And when Knowledge has been given, the Wisdom of the Lord develops.

Ephesians 4:5 KJV - "One Lord, one faith, one baptism . . ."

The same Salvation that king David thanked the Lord for, is the same Salvation that we are to receive today. The Faith that Abraham had been given is the same Faith that we are to have today.

Psalm 18:46 NLT - "The LORD lives! Praise to my Rock! May the God of my salvation be exalted!"

Romans 4:12 NLT - "And Abraham is also the spiritual father of those who have been circumcised, but only if they have the same kind of faith Abraham had before he was circumcised."

These things will remain elusive until pastors decide to begin teaching the flock how our Patriarchs could be saved [before] Jesus had died. This is the True Gospel and not the watered-down faith of today's "church" that couldn't save a gnat. Or, individuals could study the Bible for themselves and be taught by the Spirit . . . a full explanation of the True Gospel is there, but we must be Enabled to see this Mysterious Plan of God.

Jeremiah 31:33-34 RSV - "But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each man teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the LORD; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more."
