This is out of your hands Sister. But God is there and is working in your life. As for the life of your nephew, he is still young. God will be with Him don't worry. It is all according to God's plan. Nothing is out of God's hands and nothing impossible for Him. Keep everything in prayer. This is not your battle to fight. God will fight this fight. He will redeem your nephew.

in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Thank you, I keep telling myself that. I don't want to do or say what I shouldn't. I will see my Nephew tomorrow, I'm excited to see how he is liking his new job.

Well, this certainly was a timely post. My nephew called me this evening with his fiance. His parents for some odd reason had been discouraging them from getting married. Anyway they called and said they had their papers ready. I had already had spoken to my pastor and asked if he would marry them last month, then they could have a wedding when they could afford it. But because my nephew has a new job he only has tomorrow evening and Thanksgiving day off. Called my pastor and he said they usually have church but aren't because of Thanksgiving and that he was willing to marry them tomorrow evening! Wonderful news!

First off, let me say that I'm very sorry to hear about your and your families situation. It honestly reminds me of when I first started dating at the age of 13/14 and I had an 18 yr old boyfriend. I had been taught to never have intimacy with anyone out of wedlock. Well this boy came along and i'd also say "bewitched" me and made me do things I would have never done before meeting him!!! Now that I look back on it, it is quite scary how big of a change was made in my life from meeting this guy. I was with him for almost four years and then broke it off. But it catapulted me into a season (s) of guys in general. I have recently broken free for Satans grip and can see that I was possessed in so many areas of my life.

Second,
I think this girl has something about her that makes your nephew want to just jump ship and save her from her situation. I can't speak for what this girl has done in her life or what she is currently doing, but something isn't right. SHE and HE BOTH need to be seriously prayed for. In depth. God doesn't create life unless he has a plan for that life. He always has a plan. So that baby is important to Him! Pray for that baby as well! Ask Jesus to intercede for you and then go and pray for hours! All throughout the day! Prayer is powerful! FASTING can even help!

Thirdly,
I'd see where your nephew is at on the subject of relationship with Jesus. He needs to be praying for her and the baby as well. Even if he won't listen, plant that seed of prayer into his mind, so that way it can grow, through your prayer that you do!

I'm praying for you! Let me know if you need anything!

Congratulations to you and your family. God will always do what is best for His people. Just put your faith in Him in these things. Your nephew is going to be alright along with his new family. God will lead him and his family. You don't have to worry for your nephew. God will take care of him and lead him on the right path. And because God is with him, he will bless his wife also.

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah Chapter 29:11

Wish you and family Happy Thanksgiving :)

This is probably the best update I will be able to give for a while. My nephew was still worried about telling his parents that he's now married. So I called him last night as he was driving home and he had decided he would tell them. So I tried to encourage him and he asked if I would stay on the phone until he told them. I said I would. His father accepted it and said he wanted to see the pictures. I sent a video I had taken to him. My nephew thanked me for helping him and said all went well. I was so happy for him. But as I spoke to my BIL today he said my sister is very angry and not to call her but let her contact me. I explained it all out to my BIL, why I did what I did and why I felt it was right. He agrees with me but he's stuck in the middle. So I don't feel I did wrong, I would make the same choice again. Hopefully one day my sister will mature and understand why I made the choice I did. Thank you all who responded for you encouragement and wisdom. I appreciate it.

Well there has been a small update to the last update. My sister did call my mother. She cried about how hurt she was, she blamed my mother, said she didn't think she would ever forgive us. My poor mother put up with this for 5 straight hours. I felt so bad because I was the one who set up the pastor when my nephew asked. My mother stayed calm and she said she didn't apologize for getting my nephew married. One thing that I thought was interesting is that she seemed most upset that her friends had found out. What she had been telling them I do not know. She and her husband kind of have a "public face" in their town, he ran for mayor once. That seemed to be the thing she was upset by the most. Of course her friends are telling her how horrible her family is.

I personally felt like it was nothing more than a huge adult temper tantrum. My nephew and his wife are now living together in the old building his my sister and hubby are trying to restore a couple rooms to live in. They were slow walking it because they didn't want them to get married. So now my nephew and his wife are living in a dark, dank, dusty basement, simply a place for storage. No place to shower. They have a heater for heat. This kills me. But the relationship between my sister and my nephew is so broken he wouldn't go home if she asked him to , and she hasn't. So her first grandchild is on the way with nowhere to live but this basement. So far my sister has stuck to her guns over this. I don't know where or when healing will come. She told Mom she won't be up to visit this Christmas. She lives 3 hrs away and we see her maybe three times a year. She now says her youngest son is the only one that loves her and understands how she feels. She's co-opted him into hating her now daughter in law as much as she does. smh I hurt for my mother who has fought cancer to deal with this. At this point I want to give my sister a shake and tell her to wake up and knock it off. I guess all we can do is pray and wait and see what comes of it all. Thanks for the advice, I've appreciated it.

Prayed for you and all your family...Just keep giving everything to God , for He is the One who brings beauty from the ashes...The baby will have everything it needs , because through God , you will provide...Try to take your eyes of their surroundings , they wont be living there forever , and where they are now is a huge step from where they were...

I thank God that your nephew has you in his life , and you may be the one God uses to shine the Light of Christ to both him and his wife...Sent with love , from Rosemary...I have 17 grandchildren , young and in teens , and some with children , and as a mother , my heart has been torn so many times , but God ...Amen...

Thank you sister, you post made me cry. I have no children, but I think the world of my nephews. As babies on my knee I prayed over them. It's really going to take God to change my sisters heart. But thank you for your post, but God, that hit me like a wave. I hurt for everyone, I cherish peace in my family, but I know it's not realistic to believe trails will never come. Thank you so much for your advice. <3

I totally believe that! My grandmothers prayed for their sons and both passed not seeing them saved, but they never stopped praying. After their deaths both sons, one on either side of the family, came to know the Lord before they passed away. It hit me the other day that God was faithful to my grandmothers prayers even after they died. What joy there must be in heaven that both women have their sons with them in heaven. Thank you for that testimony and that good word of encouragement! May God give us the faith to believe and hold on even when hope seems lost. I think this thread is turning into a testimony thread! PTL.

I guess another update is due. My nephew and his wife came up during the Christmas season. His younger brother came along. My sister made some excuse for not coming. That was fine, no one wanted drama. My nephew and his wife are staying in the basement of an old store front. They have a mattress on the floor and run heaters. No running water and no bathroom unless they can find their way upstairs at night. She is incredibly pregnant and this is very difficult for her. We have done all we can do trying to help. But to give them a place to stay so far from us, we just can't swing it.

The issue is that my sister has taken such bitterness in her heart against her now daughter in law that she cannot see anything else. She wouldn't take part in their wedding, she refuses to have a baby shower or help in any way. The building they were fixing for them is an old store front that should be demolished really. And they have held that over their heads as if they were doing something major for them. My sister is spreading terrible rumors about her daughter in law. She has convinced my youngest nephew to have a hate for her too. This is not like my sister and nothing will change her mind.

My youngest nephew said something about his brother and my husband corrected him. But it broke his heart. He is 15 and always looked up to my husband. I talked to him and then spoke to my husband and he said he will apologize to him. It's not his fault, he is torn between his brother he loves, and loyalty to my sister. He cried and said " I didn't make this choice, none of this is my fault but I face the consequences night and day. I can't ever get away from it." I'm torn. I love these boys like they were my own. I don't have children but have always tried to be there when they needed to talk. Now we have a baby on the way and we're in this mess. Both the boys love each other and they are hurting. I just keep praying for the right words, I don't want to hurt them. Meanwhile my sister is hard as stone, unable to speak to her, unable to understand her. It's just a heavy burden. I've noticed some health issues coming up I believe are stress related. I have aging parents, a husband and home to care for and the boys come here to escape. I cannot fall ill now. I would really appreciate your prayers during this time as we move forward into spring with a new life starting. I know God has a plan I just can't see.

Wonderful news! I became a great aunt last night!! A beautiful baby boy was born that I believe God spared his life. I haven't met him yet, but I hope to soon. Please life this precious child in prayer, that in spite of what the devil tried to do that God would make him a mighty witness for him as long as he is alive.

Were you only an average or good aunt previous to the baby's birth?

Romans 8
Easy-to-Read Version
Life in the Spirit
8 So now anyone who is in Christ Jesus is not judged guilty. 2 That is because in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit that brings life made you[a] free. It made you free from the law that brings sin and death. 3 The law was without power because it was made weak by our sinful selves. But God did what the law could not do: He sent his own Son to earth with the same human life that everyone else uses for sin. God sent him to be an offering to pay for sin. So God used a human life to destroy sin. 4 He did this so that we could be right just as the law said we must be. Now we don’t live following our sinful selves. We live following the Spirit.

5 People who live following their sinful selves think only about what they want. But those who live following the Spirit are thinking about what the Spirit wants them to do. 6 If your thinking is controlled by your sinful self, there is spiritual death. But if your thinking is controlled by the Spirit, there is life and peace. 7 Why is this true? Because anyone whose thinking is controlled by their sinful self is against God. They refuse to obey God’s law. And really they are not able to obey it. 8 Those who are ruled by their sinful selves cannot please God.

9 But you are not ruled by your sinful selves. You are ruled by the Spirit, if that Spirit of God really lives in you. But whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Christ. 10 Your body will always be dead because of sin. But if Christ is in you, then the Spirit gives you life, because Christ made you right with God. 11 God raised Jesus from death. And if God’s Spirit lives in you, he will also give life to your bodies that die. Yes, God is the one who raised Christ from death, and he will raise you to life through his Spirit living in you.

12 So, my brothers and sisters, we must not be ruled by our sinful selves. We must not live the way our sinful selves want. 13 If you use your lives to do what your sinful selves want, you will die spiritually. But if you use the Spirit’s help to stop doing the wrong things you do with your body, you will have true life.

14 The true children of God are those who let God’s Spirit lead them. 15 The Spirit that we received is not a spirit that makes us slaves again and causes us to fear. The Spirit that we have makes us God’s chosen children. And with that Spirit we cry out, “ Abba,Father.” 16 And the Spirit himself speaks to our spirits and makes us sure that we are God’s children. 17 If we are God’s children, we will get the blessings God has for his people. He will give us all that he has given Christ. But we must suffer like Christ suffered. Then we will be able to share his glory.

We Will Have Glory in the Future
18 We have sufferings now, but these are nothing compared to the great glory that will be given to us. 19 Everything that God made is waiting with excitement for the time when he will show the world who his children are. The whole world wants very much for that to happen. 20 Everything God made was allowed to become like something that cannot fulfill its purpose. That was not its choice, but God made it happen with this hope in view: 21 That the creation would be made free from ruin—that everything God made would have the same freedom and glory that belong to God’s children.

22 We know that everything God made has been waiting until now in pain like a woman ready to give birth to a child. 23 Not only the world, but we also have been waiting with pain inside us. We have the Spirit as the first part of God’s promise. So we are waiting for God to finish making us his own children. I mean we are waiting for our bodies to be made free. 24 We were saved to have this hope. If we can see what we are waiting for, that is not really hope. People don’t hope for something they already have. 25 But we are hoping for something we don’t have yet, and we are waiting for it patiently.

26 Also, the Spirit helps us. We are very weak, but the Spirit helps us with our weakness. We don’t know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself speaks to God for us. He begs God for us, speaking to him with feelings too deep for words. 27 God already knows our deepest thoughts. And he understands what the Spirit is saying, because the Spirit speaks for his people in the way that agrees with what God wants.

28 We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. These are the people God chose, because that was his plan. 29 God knew them before he made the world. And he decided that they would be like his Son. Then Jesus would be the firstborn of many brothers and sisters. 30 God planned for them to be like his Son. He chose them and made them right with him. And after he made them right, he gave them his glory.

God’s Love in Christ Jesus
31 So what should we say about this? If God is for us, no one can stand against us. And God is with us. 32 He even let his own Son suffer for us. God gave his Son for all of us. So now with Jesus, God will surely give us all things. 33 Who can accuse the people God has chosen? No one! God is the one who makes them right. 34 Who can say that God’s people are guilty? No one! Christ Jesus died for us, but that is not all. He was also raised from death. And now he is at God’s right side, speaking to him for us. 35 Can anything separate us from Christ’s love? Can trouble or problems or persecution separate us from his love? If we have no food or clothes or face danger or even death, will that separate us from his love? 36 As the Scriptures say,

“For you we are in danger of death all the time.
People think we are worth no more than sheep to be killed.”

37 But in all these troubles we have complete victory through God, who has shown his love for us. 38-39 Yes, I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not death, life, angels, or ruling spirits. I am sure that nothing now, nothing in the future, no powers, nothing above us or nothing below us—nothing in the whole created world—will ever be able to separate us from the love God has shown us in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Asking for prayer in this situation again. My nephew and his wife came and stayed at my parents for a month waiting on his parents to finish an apartment for them. It was so good to hold my great nephew. I don't have children of my own but there is something about holding a newborn baby. Just as they were leaving he was beginning to focus and look in your eyes. When he would cry I would walk with him and sing a little song I made up naming each member of the family and that they loved him. Then one night I sang "Jesus loves Jasper" and the little one looked up at me and I began to cry. My sister is now saying that it's not her grandchild, that her daughter in law trapped her son and the child isn't his. This past weekend my younger nephew visited and when my mother asked him what it felt like to be an uncle he shook his head and said "I'm not related to him". This grieves me so much.

At the same time my sisters husband was married before. He has a daughter who has already had a child but when she heard her half brother was having a child, she went out and got pregnant with a complete stranger. Come to find out, the guy is a pedophile and is now in jail. She has just had her baby, also a boy and my sister has accepted that child, even though she doesn't get along with her, as if it is her grandchild. My younger nephew refused to hold his brothers child, but I saw he was pictured holding his half sisters baby. Both children are innocent of what their parents did. But my nephew repented, asked for my help to get married and is there trying to raise his family. But my sister has acted like her son died. I have never known her to be like this. She has rejected her own grandchild. Needless to say I don't know what to do. I love both my nephews, but my sister is spreading rumors and her youngest son is believing them and repeating them. I had thought that once she held her first grandchild my sister would relent, but she hasn't. She denies that the child is her blood. It truly breaks my heart in two. Pray as I might, I can only wait on the Lord because I don't know what to do or say.
