in the OT and the NT
the people of the book, God's people, and disciples, didn't ask that. they prayed with thanksgiving and seeking from him what they needed,
and he provided what was needed and told them what to do. (read all of his answers/ directions in the NT and the OT).
often missed, the whole world and the way of flesh is disobedient and against him and HIS WORD --- when someone
sees this(if he permits), if they are to be saved, they are broken, devastated and embarrassed and turn to him repenting of living their own life and seeking from
him his forgiveness , then he tells them what to do.
even those 'born' in a christian family must learn this and repent ... ... ..
