This song isn't about xmas at all. If you take a closer look at the original lyrics you will see it's about king David's adultery and about the feelings of lust of the author (Leonard Cohen) for his girlfriend. Not even a 432nd cover of the song can change anything about that...

This post is a bit confusing...:confused:

I have been singing Cohen's original version for many years, but this is not a cover of his version. Cloverton changed the lyrics and re-titled it as a Christmas song. Even so, I agree, as I initially indicated, that even Cloverton's version goes far beyond Christmas. :)
