Vineyard sang a song called The River is Here. Are you familiar with it?
I can't say I am familiar with that song, Cameron...

When I first became a Christian, at least two of the churches I was attending sang modern praise and worship.
I found I really liked it! Then one day when I went to work, someone had left a shoe box full of cassettes
of modern praise and worship on my printing machine for me! I think it was from my boss/his wife, as she
attended the church where I was baptized. So I became acquainted with more songs that way. Also, shortly
after my conversion, I turned 50 and bought myself a telly after not having one for 17 years... I thought a
nice small set would do, and then, I came home with a Sony Wega, 42" flat screen digital TV! LOL!!! But I did
not get cable for a few years, mostly watching videos and mostly with my daughter when she was visiting,
and at other times, I had the TV tuned to a Christian radio station (Galaxy - The Light, or something like that),
and they played modern praise and worship, which I listened to throughout the day when I was home.
Over time certain songs really stood out for me, and then I would look up the song and artist on the tube...

I'll check out The River is Here now .:)

Music, like sermons, is very powerful in their season. It seems almost as if God knows what we need and when. Usually a top 5 list includes the last 5 subjects that God has been working on us on.

thus why I cannot pick just 5 and all the songs are "my favorite" and it changes from day to day
Just pick your latest 5. It was an impossible task. So when you get what I call an "elephant" task, just eat it one bite at a time.

Like currently, the first 2 or 3 notes of these 3 songs come on and my daughters like "oh! Mom likes this song." (sometimes before I even know/realize what's playing  )

Ann Wilson: Strong
www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFk2iYq4Zjk

Brandon Lake: Praise You Anywhere
www.youtube.com/watch?v=do7GNke_P0U

Toby Mac: Faithfully

Then there's what I like to call timeless classics, like the old hymns, or the worship songs that are just great (powerful) no matter what the circumstance.

Because He Lives!

We call it "intentional extra movement"

And as to not derail this thread more...
As I was scrolling youtube for my first 5 videos I stumbled onto this one and thought "Oh yeah! I forgot about that song!"

Word of God Speak (in american sign language-asl)

(and I wish I had time to just sit and do this all day because I was just flooded with thoughts of "oh then there's this one! and "Don't forget about that one!" see, just waaaaaayyyy too many to pick just 5 :LOL: )

PS ~ I did not mean to post the videos, but the links to YT must have auto-inserted them! .o_O

Maybe it happened when I edited to add the last sentence? I'm mystified LOL
No problem! One has to chop off the "https://" at the beginning (start with www) or the CC site will post the video screen. I put that in Rule 2.

Thanks for posting your 5! I noticed Wendy Whitehead gives 'Come, Now is the Time to Worship' an almost 'Dolores O'Riordan from the Cranberries' delivery. :)

You are welcome, Sculpt, and thank you for the personal invitation to join! Ah! When I first read the OP,
I did read that about chopping off the http, but that was shortly after your OP showed up, and I had
forgotten that part in the interim! I didn't post any at first because, as I said, choosing only five?
Yeah, heh, I have so many
.:D.May Delores R.I.P. .. Good luck to all who participate :)

Ah, so it wasn't just me.

Sculpt, do you always do this private message campaigning when you start a thread? Or just for music threads?

Mine was a public invitation... but considering what you say of yourself in regards to music, it should be no surprise you would get a personal invite! :D

Best Christian Song of All-time Tournament 2024 - EVERYONE Welcome to Participant

Just for fun and to share our favorite songs, I thought we can have a christian song tournament. This refers to recorded songs.

Rules:

1. Please post a list of what you think are the 5 best christian songs.
- Your list must include the full Song Title and the Recording Artist (example: El Shaddai - Amy Grant). That's all you need! (please verify it's the full song title and spelled correctly)

2. (Optional) you may include a youtube link to the specific song version you want considered - which you can do by cut/paste the URL address and remove the "https//", so it looks like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8txqw-u4V78
- Do NOT use the Insert/Video function as this will make it difficult to load the page for everyone.

After enough lists are posted, the top vote getters will be included in a final poll thread for everyone to vote on, including CC Members who have not submitted a list.

What's a Christian Song? -- You decide. A christian song generally conveys any expression of the faith. It does not have to be a praise song. It can be a hymn, but you must include a Recording Artist.

Below I've included a few examples to spark some thoughts:

El Shaddai - Amy Grant -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=8txqw-u4V78
Jordan Feliz - The River -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=maT4phfTXR4
Hold On - Kansas -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xikm2YS_7xM
In The Light - DC Talk -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQoK_ryT3uc
The Voice - The Moody Blues -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBNgPf0Sss4
Carrie Underwood - O Holy Night -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsvSWLtUxHk
Awesome God – Rich Mullins -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBnzAepXOE8
Carry On My Wayward Son - Kansas -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X_2IdybTV0
Wherever I Go - Dan Bremnes -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=S15mk_5nTdY
You Light Up My Life - Debbie Boone -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOShEUn0aA4
Road to Zion - Petra -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFHX55W6mSQ
Thy Word - Amy Grant -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6LC8cu03Ig
Jesus, Take The Wheel - Carrie Underwood -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=lydBPm2KRaU
