I was never a fan musically. I always found it all trite and dull.
True there are those that are eager to call out every flawed doctrine and condemn, but the other side of the coin is that there are those who think that using the title Christian means you shouldn't question it. Many hillsong lovers fall into the second category.

Hillsong has been known to become questionable in their teachings, though. Which is fairly common when a ministry becomes popular.
Between the uninspired music, the commercialization of praise and worship and the questionable teachings I will continue to keep my distance.
But if someone else chooses to listen it it doesn't phase me. Everyone's different and music is subjective.

I kind of agree with Subhumanoid.

My personal opinion is that most contemporary Christian music just isn't very good music.
But that's purely subjective, and doesn't really count for much.
It's fine for people to like different things.

However, regarding the Christian music industry as an industry... it seems to be brimming over with a lot of weirdness.
That happens anywhere there's money and fame.
A lot of christian recording artists have admitted they were never even Christians.
Before becoming a fan of any particular group, whoever it is, it would just be wise to check into them first.

Just be smart.

Although I REALLY don't like the evolution stuff, my main objection is THIS line:

"If You gave Your life to love them so will I
Like You would again a hundred billion times"

This to me IS ACTUAL HERESY. Jesus died ONCE for all, for all time. To suggest He would again and again is NOT GOOD. I understand Hyperbole to make a point, but not with this doctrine.
I guess there were just tryna say no matter how many times... You would give you life for us... Unflinching, without thinking twice... Every single billion time you have to do it. You will do it. You love us that much.. though you've already died once and that's enough but if you were told to do so again, you will...

So on Monday I came across a video on YouTube that talked about Hillsong worship being uhhh antichrist, supporting certain things that aren't really CHRISTIAN
And in the comments section I saw people saying "after watching this I deleted all their songs from my playlist, I dumped all their CDs in the trashcan " and stuff like that

But what I don't get is, let's say they are what the video say they are
Why delete the songs? The lyrics are beautiful, very deep if you ask me

What I'm trying to say is, what would they gain from doing that though 🤷🏽🤷🏽🤷🏽

If people are looking for a perfect church, this is the earth, not Heaven. There are many songs in any church from traditional to contemporary, and churches are made up of individuals. I wasn't aware of all this controversy, until recently, but, can you name one church that has everything right? No idols, no average songs, no mistakes--
Just ALL PERFECT PEOPLE!

This Hillsong worship song is one that has been an inspiration to me, since I enjoy both traditional and contemporary Christian worship music, and enjoy many of their songs. Just yesterday morning, after many days of rain, the sun came out and I was rocking on my porch (a guitar) and I was playing this song. I have a decorative curtain on this rented wilderness cabin porch, and when I sang the words, "who the Son sets free, is free indeed," a gust of wind blew through the curtain and the porch and the wind-chimes. It was amazing!

And the other day after I joined in with this worship song, I opened my Bible randomly to Proverbs 3 and 4:
And read--
"My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart.
If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying.
Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! ...
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek His will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."...
"My child, don't lose sight of common sense and discernment. Hang on to them,
for they are like jewels on a necklace."
(Proverbs 3:1-3; 5-6; 21-22; NLT).

And today, just before reading this post, I opened my spiritual freedom ministry book, "Walking in Freedom," (Neil T. Anderson & Rich Miller) the companion guide for "The Bondage Breaker," (Dr. Neil T. Anderson), "Freedom in Christ Ministry" also randomly to:
"DAY EIGHTEEN"
HOMEWARD BOUND

On page 132 under "THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD,"
it says:
"Jesus came to earth, lived, died, rose again and ascended to heaven nearly 2,000 years ago. As one day rolls into the next and life goes on and on, it is easy to forget that Jesus coming back. But He said he would return and we have the assurance that He will in His timing!" ("Walking in Freedom," pg. 132).
Also on page 112, it says under "THE TRUTH ABOUT YOU" that our true identity is as "children of God,"
following a quote on pg. 111 from John 1: 12--
"As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12).

I watched much of the video that my good Christian brother, Waggles posted above, and there was good dialog and discussion also.
Hillsong is reaching a lot of people in the world with their upbeat and powerful music and introducing many people in the world to Jesus who would not go to a traditional church. The words of this song, help counter the negative feedback.
As children of God, which just means "sons and daughters" of Heaven, young and old (they say we will all be 30 in heaven), songs like this help to strengthen our faith in our true identity with Christ.

I have only one opinion of Hillsong; I don't like their music. Simple enough. I don't know what they teach, or the words to their songs because I don't bother listening to them. They are exactly the opposite of what I listen too. I suggest that if you want to listen to them or anyone else for that matter, listen with your ear open and hear what message they are sending and measure it against your personal convictions and the Bible.
If I were on a position that I was going to speak to them in person I would listen to them so that I would know what to say to them, but being it ain't never gonna happen, I have no words for or about them.

What do you mean by, "exactly opposite" of what you listen to?
Did 50 million people listen to it?

I don't know how many people listen to them, niether do I care.
What I mean by the exact opposite of, is that I don't listen to huge production pop style, commecial music. I listen to usually acoustic no production required singer song writter Americana style music, akin to country, bluegrass, folk.

Out of curiosity I have to ask? Someone gave me a thumbs down which is to disagree with what I said. With what that I said is there any disagreement?
My statement sumed up;
I Don't like their music.
Not my style of music.
Listen to what ya want, but make sure the message is biblical.
I have nothing to say about or to them.
So please expound on the disagreement, if you would indulge my curiosity.

Ok to what point?
What is there to dislike?
Clearly you have the right to dislike, but I'm curious as to what is so dislike- able?
Oh, it's not a big deal...just your opinion about Hillsong's music...it's clear you haven't listened to any of their music to say that...buuuut, i can remove it if you want...

No by all means you have the right to dislike what I said and it's okay with me if you do dislike it. I was just curious as to why.
And I have heard more than I care to of their music. I used to attend charismatic churches, you can hardly attend one of those churches without having that type of music thrust upon you. It's not wrong or right to like or dislike any particular type of music or band or performer. So it's okay for you to like what you like and it's okay for me to like what I like there's plenty for everybody

Something to consider: Just because 'christian' words are put to music, doesn't make the music of God. satan is an imitator. Is he not? He imitates everything God does. Don't you think he has his music also. he desires worship. God provides music as a form of worship to Him. Don't you think satan will have his music to worship him with?

Many say the music doesn't matter. I disagree. It does matter. As you see, Cain, who was not of God, produced a civilization familiar with music. (Gen. 4:21)

So, don't you think the sounds produced by a satanic music will be different than that of God's music? And don't you think that we who are Christian, who have the Holy Spirit, will react to the music accordingly. In other words, shouldn't the Christian be able to tell the difference?

Hillsong started in my country Australia and from small beginnings has spread worldwide, the Gospel they preaches is WOF but the vast majority of the audience come for the music and entertainment very little else, you asked as to whether the Christian should be able to spot the difference between Satanic influence and the Holy Spirit and there is the problem the nominal person believing they are saved have not the Spirit of Truth and therefore are open to unfamiliar spirits and Satanic influences. The company that the Houston family hang out with is a rouges gallery of false teachers charlatans and Ecumenism promoters.
