When I was talking to atheists and various other non-believers over a period of eight years before coming here, one of the things I remember some of them saying was that Jesus did not sacrifice anything, because He knew He was going to be raised from death, as if somehow that magically nullified His giving up being part of the Godhead and leaving His Heavenly abode to manifest as a human being to crawl around in the dark and dirt with us. Kind of like if one of us could give up our humanity to become a worm and crawl around in the dirt with them to save some of them, know what I mean? That would surely entail much sacrifice. I also pointed out to those who made such arguments that just because Jesus defeated/rose from death, did not mean He did not make any sacrifices, likening it to a soldier going off to war, giving up/sacrificing the comforts of home to go to some foreign land and risk his life hoping to save some. Just because he survives does not mean he did not sacrifice anything. Any ways, how can we know what it was like for Jesus to leave Heaven and "empty Himself" to become one of us? We don't know what it is like to be God. Surely being God is much greater than being a human entity. But we have nothing really to compare it to from a human perspective, because we cannot become a worm to crawl around in the dirt with them hoping to save some.
