is it okay to listen to songs that have a curse word in them if they're not demeaning towards anyone/used in a sinful way? My pastor once said something about how it's all about motive when it comes to swearing. And some songs are just ruined by 1-2 swear words...as long as my motives are all good for listening to a specific song, is it alright, or is it an extremely bad thing? I forget what my pastor said, it's been a while

babygoose -- I think song content is important right alongside motive. I can't stand swearing, especially in songs. If you're singing those songs and swearing, then that's probably not a good thing to pursue. Take 'Little Lion Man' from Mumford & Sons, which has a very heavy swearing sequence. But, the song is real and hits very close to me…even where I could possibly be swearing as it is a song I can relate to within myself. And I dig that song a lot. So yeah…what's the intention of the songwriter and then what's your motive for listening/singing, and pray about it.
