I put together this sermon jam using excerpts I took from a Ravi Zacharias lecture about Man being made in the image of God. For the background music I used the instrumental version of "Lord of Patience" by Christian rapper Shai Linne.

Hey Descyple , that was a beautiful video.

What is said is amazing. When he brought out , paying what is due God and the government was really lovely. And the music you chose was good too.

Ecclesiastik I read that blog post you posted, but when I clicked the link mentioned in the blog on RZIM's position on Henri Nouwen, it didn't exist.

So I searched a few links to see his position and I found a statement of his, which goes like this,

"
I regret having said that. At the time, I based my comment on Nouwen’s story of the prodigal son which I felt was on target. But later as I learned more about Nouwen and Merton, I found their writings to be very troubling. I believe that doctrinally, Nouwen lost his way.
I used to read Malcolm Muggeridge too until I read his book, “Jesus Rediscovered”. Muggeridge was morally and culturally a good thinker, but he was not theologically sound"

RAVI ZACHARIAS CLARIFIES CALLING HENRI NOUWEN GREAT SAINT : Apprising Ministries

I think , we ought to take in the good and test everything that is said and at the same time still appreciate the truth presented.

So, not to dismiss anything without checking.

Thank you Descyple once again for sharing. That was beautiful :)

Greetings Ecclesiastik, I appreciate your "linked" contribution to this thread. I do in fact agree somewhat with the bloggers claim that Ravi Zacharias possibly wasted and perhaps even compromised during his talk at the Mormon Temple (I have that lecture myself on cd). And if he did compromise, should he be rebuked? Absolutely. But to jump to the conclusion that his ministry is in a "downfall" seems somewhat unfounded to me, considering all the great work God has done and continues to do through him to this day.

All ministers of the faith have faults and failures and weaknesses (just as you do and I do), and I blame Ravi's "compromises" (I use that word lightly) more so on his personality rather than his theological beliefs (because he has such a diplomatic disposition). But he does not in fact accept the Mormon church as a Christian denomination. He even sighted surprise at the invitation from the LDS church to speak in one of their temples even though they knew he was the editor of Walter Martin's book "Kingdom of the Cults" which clearly labels Mormonism as a false religion.

So I would caution jumping to conclusions about ministers of the faith (especially when basing those judgments on other people's extremely short blog posts).

But again, thank you for your contribution. All thoughts and opinions are welcome (although the "Music Thread" probably isn't the best place for this type of discussion).

Ravi Zacharias is a brilliant thinker and a great man of God. The points that website tried to use are so weak it's almost laughable if it weren't so insulting. Even if you truly believe that speaking to mormons or agreeing to meet stupid requirements in order to reach people were wrong decisions, that doesn't negate all the good he has done. His quote about the Catholic church is true as Roman Catholicism was the only Christian presence in many places during some really dark times in history. Living in the public eye is demanding and difficult, and sometimes you will make the wrong decisions. We should extend grace when any fellow believer makes a misstep, real or perceived.

Thanks for the information guys...except for the person who said the points were laughable. I thought they were some pretty good points. I try to call out heresy whenever I see it so that people can be informed. Most people never take the time to look into these celebrity pastors/apologists. A lot of them have some pretty concerning doctrine and actions.

I heard some bad about Ravi so I called it out. I don't know a lot about him but I'll try to check him out when I get back from Bible study.

Thanks again

God bless!

Ecclesiastik, I would never dissuade you from testing every single teaching from every single person. After all, we are commanded in Scriptures to do so:

"Test all things" - 1 Thessalonians 5:21.

That is why I can freely say without embarrassment that I was displeased with the substance of Ravi's lecture he gave at the Mormon temple. Of course I am judging Ravi's talk based on my extremely limited and finite mind. For all I know, God could have brought about tremendous blessings to the Mormon's that Ravi spoke to. I can't say for sure (only God knows whether that day was in vain or not).

I would just recommend extreme carefulness and thoroughness when putting down a minister's entire work because of some things that we feel are incorrect, or that we would have done differently ourselves.

Enjoy your Bible Study. God bless you, Brother!!!

Hey Jimmy, why are you surprised I know Shai Linne's music? Is it because I'm white???

White people like to get their "jam on" sometimes too (I can't believe I just said that, I am definitely a white guy - lol).

Hey, nerdy white guys can be Reformed too, just look at Alvin Plantinga - he's the nerdiest and most Reformed of us all (he's also my Grandfather - he just doesn't know it yet!!!).

The CRCNA really isn't all that reformed these days.

You don't really impress me as being Reformed. Wouldn't have been my first guess.

That's okay, Jimmydiggs, I often get mistaken as being non-Reformed.

For example, I once went to an R.C. Sproul conference and I was turned away at the door and told I had to leave immediately. The reason? Because they saw a tattoo on my arm that said "I LOVE FREE WILL", but what they didn't realize was that the full tattoo actually said "I LOVE FREE WILLY" (I was a big fan of that movie when it came out, but the "Y" on my tattoo had faded away over the years).

Ravi Zacharias has proven himself over and over again in the Lords service, living his life teaching the Word of God and giving people amazing logic and truth concerning The true God. God has certainly given Ravi opportunity after opportunity all over the world. Especially going into the Godless colleges where he has been very much appreciated for his style of presenting Jesus Christ and the hope that is in him. Packing college auditoriums to the shock of the professors who can't get the students to do their homework. Those places are void of hope and God sends one of His choice servants....Ravi Zacharias to present Jesus Christ.

Wack!!! Ravi - a christian brother (may) have made a mistake!! wack!! wack! wack! Ravi Wack !wack! wack!! He is like a seasoned marine who went out many times in battle and by experience has learned to win the battle in the power of the Lord. Then a new untried marine who may never have been out in a battle calls the seasoned marine out on the carpet for sleeping in because the night before he saved a family in the village.
