Wouldn't exactly label ATR as Christian.
doesn't everyone have issues, things they can improve, work on, everyone falls short of that title in some form or another.

Well, seeing as how they have never claimed to be a Christian band, or Christians at all for that matter. Or been recognized as being part of the Christian scene. That may have more to do with it than whatever you're talking about.
All i remember is later in their career there was some talk revolving around the vocalist having more conservative stances and possibly some claim to something spiritual, but don't remember anything ever fully verifying he had become an actual Christian. And if he were that still would not make the whole band Christian. So no matter how you slice it, even if one member is Christian (if he ever was) that does not qualify a band as being Christian. By that logic Iron Maiden is Christian. Slayer is a Catholic band. Korn are a Christian band. Bleeding Through would be Christian (or at least would have been years ago). You get the point.

Makes me think of that 80s song 'I Want Candy'. Not exactly an artist i would think fits this thread.

Oh really? Sorry. Not really sure what you guys call heavy metal Christian bands, but to me this was "heavy". Much different than I'm used to, but I love the words. Do you want me to delete?

Forgive me for butting in, but i learned long ago that christian music, whether it is contemporary gospel, heavy metal, gospel, country gospel, or black gospel music, they are all for self edification and not praise and worship songs to God. I listen to some, not as much as i used too because they sound so good. I guess there is not much wrong with self edification gospel, but praise and worship, i do believe get God's attention, because you are singing directly to him.

if you read the Psalms, or if you have read them, you will notice that there are several types of them, which include hymns of praise, yes - but they are not limited to this form.
some are essentially prayers, often with a quite somber and self-reflective tone, some are prophecy, some are accounts of history, and a large and important classification is those that are called "maskil" - which are "teaching" songs, one of the primary purposes of which is to edify, though they also contain verses lauding God.

all of these are scripture, and specifically, scriptural songs, expressly purposed to be set to music and sung.

so i don't sit well with your insinuation that God may neither hear nor approve of spiritual songs & hymns unless they are wholly dedicated to "praise and worship" ((however it is you define that)), specifically because God's own hymn-book includes an abundance of hymns that are not "hal-El" songs.

it's also clear from your post that you are either ignorant of an enormous body of 'christian music' of all kinds of genres that is in fact direct and incontrovertible "praise and worship" songs, or you chose to ignore all such songs and/or categorize them as something fundamentally different than your own private definition of "christian music"

in brief:

scripture includes many psalms whose purpose is more clearly edification of both the singer/reader and listener, which is in itself a form of worship.
what may be called 'christian music' both contemporary & historic in fact includes an huge amount of songs that have the clear and unambiguous purpose of 'praise and worship' - and such songs exist in just about every musical genre imaginable.

in even briefer brief:

you're wrong, whether because you are misinformed or for some reason in denial.

In one measely post you managed to judge the hearts, intentions and actions of 1000s.
You, the one that joins the site, rarely interacts, but posts blog after blog after blog. And the rare occasions you do interact you're "correcting" someone and judging their motives. Let me guess, that's all for God and not your own self edification? And when I questioned points you made you became defensive and critical? Is that inability to have "your" blogs questioned, and give a reasonable response, for God's praise? What should we suppose about your intentions and motives from those behaviors?
So when you condemn all music, one of God's creations, that is praising God with pure motives?
I've seen your frequently questionable blogs, your inability to handle questions on those beliefs and that none of your few interactions with others are ever positive. Yet you expect your views to be considered or respected and thought of as God oriented?

For most if these bands they tour in cramped buses, get little if any time alone, go days without showering, rely on people to help feed them and provide places to sleep, if they don't have to drive all night and sleep in their van. And they drive all night to meet the demands of their fans and the club owners. Even though there's no guarantee the owner will pay them the full amount, if at all. Be away from family and friends. Spend their time after the concerts socializing with their fans. All this while hoping they don't lose money doing all this for months at a time.
Sometimes they are assaulted. One band travelled half way across the world doing tours in small clubs. One one which they were receiving death threats if they showed up, because they were Christians. There was a group of people waiting outside the club to attack the band, so they had to be snuck out another entrance.

You're right. Pure self edification.

It's hard to find good Christian metal that fits my particular tastes
If I could find a Christian metal band that sounds similar to Napalm Death, that would be pretty sweet

Mostly the band's in that genre take on the new style. Not many bands go the old school route, like ND. Wish they would. This new school version is a bit bland and they all sound the same.
