Ugly started talking about how much he loved Debbie Gibson & it all went horribly wrong from there.LOL Now it's become the we secretly love rap thread.
How secret is it that i listen to rap seeing as how i've posted about 10 rap videos in this thread, haha.

Me love Debbie Gibson? You and 'Deborah' (as YOU corrected me on, *ahem) will be very happy together.

It all depends on what kind of music you like. If you like metal, try out anything Ugly posts. :)

Yes, this thread focuses on Christian metal .. and sometimes i like to bug the guys and play Christian punk, rap or i played Debbie Gibson once to torture itorethesky, but then i found out he was in love with her and realized it wasn't torture for him at all. I hear he actually swooned watching the video.

But yes, if you're looking for more trendy mainstream Christian music, we might know a few, but i think you just need to go head first into the Christian metal. *fleeeex those musical muscles ROOOOOOOAAAR!.... *ahem.

It's like going into a pool for the first time of the season, you don't slowly ease your way in, you gotta dive headfirst! I think some NIV or Point of Recognition would treat you well, or if you just want to dive in the deep end I think Ugly has some Abated Mass of Flesh.

Mortal Treason sounded way to much like a Zao rip-off to me. Of course considering Zao was one of the first metalcore bands and cited by the vast majority of metalcore veterans as a influence, I guess a lot of bands could be considered zao rip-offs...

Honestly, the old Haste the Day sounded too much like Zao, of course they mixed up their guitar riffs. I don't see much similarity with Mortal Treason. Seth kimbrough was a great screamer though!

I love aspects of metalcore but man..it seems to have such a same 'ol same 'ol form to it. I suppose just like many of the thrash & death metal stuff fell into.

The problem i have with metalcore is it took off 20 years ago, and hasn't died out since. So its grown stagnant because there was no decline from a mainstream scene, so the metalcore purists are still mixed in with the trendy genre hoppers. It hasn't been purged and purified by almost dying out, like other forms of metal. All forms of metal had a period of decline in popularity. This decline in popularity weeded out the wanna-be's and left the people with a true heart for the music, and its evolution and growth, to dominate the scene. Metalcore is long standing scene genre still dominated by trendy types. There is little growth in the scene as a result.
I think black metal suffers from this some, as well, but since it was never as popular there was not as big of a mass of trendy mainstreamers posing as black metallers, so less need to purge. But it still does have its posers that need to be purged. Too many 15 year olds who got a guitar for Christmas and wearing their Halloween makeup and recording 'albums' on their parents old boom box to record 'albums'.
