The older, the better I say. People had way more talent back then. More emotion (like Zaoman said). My guitar teacher was an old Blues guy and I lived with a 70+ year old musician for 5 years. And my mom raised me off of nothing but oldies for 16 years. I love old music. I have great taste. Deal with it B]

As long as you guys are open to newer music, we should get along fine. And forgive me if I don't know every band you guys post about ^^'
No worries. Zman doesn't know a number of bands i post about either, haha.

I admit, i'm not a big fan of metalcore.. metal/hardcore.. or whatever dozen genre names they have for essentially the same style. There are some i like, but mostly not. Largely because i remember when the scene got started. And basically the 'Killswitch Engage' formula of metalcore hasn't changed in a loooooooooooong time and the style is stale and old. Metal hasn't evolved much since metalcore came out. The high voices and tons of melody get to me too. Just depends.

Lyrics:

Are not my few days almost over?

Turn away from me so I can have a moment's joy
Before I go to the place of no return,
To the land of gloom and deep shadow,
To the land of deepest night,
Of deep shadow and disorder,
Where even the light is like darkness.
(Job 10:20-22)

Yet if you devote your heart to him and
Stretch out your hands to him,
If you put away the sin that is in your hand
And allow no evil to dwell in your tent,
Then you will lift up your face without shame;
You will stand firm and without fear.
You will surely forget your trouble,
Recalling it only as waters gone by.
Life will be brighter than noonday,
And darkness will become like morning.
You will be secure, because there is hope;
You will look about you and take your rest in safety.
You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid,
And many will court your favor.
But the eyes of the wicked will fail,
And escape will elude them;
Their hope will become a dying gasp.
(Job 11:13-20)

about 90% of this band's lyrics are taken directly from the Scriptures, it's a one-man-band more or less, the man responsible, "Fire" is a converted satanist with a heart truly on "fire" for the true King of Kings now. he's set more of the Psalms to music than any other musical artist or group i know of.
this song is from 2009 album, he's got about 14-15 albums out and working on another one now. from Poland (some songs in Polish) but living in the USA now. not very popular -- hope to anyone enjoys this style of music you look into him, Elgibbor is a great blessing to me and will be to you as well.

I've learned to like it from Killswitch Engage, Bullet For my Valentine and Iced Earth. I'll admit that I didn't like it too much and I'm still really picky about it.

Great lyrics and even better instrumentals, but even I can understand a word those guys are saying :/ It sounds like mud.

haha... i watched this a few months ago. Stumbled across it one night and it looked so cheesy i knew i needed to see it. It was as bad as i had hoped. :cool:

And yeah, Elgibbor is pretty much raw black metal.. so the whole 'recorded it my parents basement' sound is typical. And apparently part of the 'charm' of the music................

KsE The End Of Heartache was an awesome album, haven't really cared much for anything else.

One of the pics guy has a The Red Chord shirt on. From what i can remember of them i see the resemblances. Kind of a grind/Red Chord.... looks like this band has changed quite a bit from their grind/splatter sound.

Ok, this band isn't Christian, but i'm filing this under 'cool metal stuff', much like our lovely french black metal female vocalist. I'm posting the original in case you don't know it. Then there are two videos following it. Covers of this song, both need to be heard (and seen).
