Yeah, I really hate saying this because I sound like my dad, but I like there to be a separation lol. Their message is definitely there, and they definitely seem to love Jesus, so I won't say much more against them. When bands go that route of trying to...I don't know, look cool I guess? I prefer it more along the lines of Horde or A Hill to Die Upon. Horde had songs that were basically just reversing what black metal was doing ("Release and Clothe the Virgin Sacrifice" "Invert the Inverted Cross" etc.) A Hill to Die Upon is a little similar, they hit on topics like witchcraft and cults, speak to those cultures in their language and point them to Jesus, such as one of my personal favorites below :D

No, when the bands first came out, their lyrics were real straightforward and biblical. New singer joined and some interview he was dropping f-bombs like crazy. Then when i saw their lyrics they dropped all the bible references and just went with typical secular sounding lyrics about... who knows. And more f-bombs.

Far as the whole 'looking cool' concept goes, isn't that essentially all bands, Christian or not? And i've learned, both from my own writings, as well as explanations of stuff i've seen from bands, that there is usually more meaning in something that seems meaningless, then we realize. We just aren't able to pick it out.
Even if they pick something meaningless as a cover or whatever, long as their overall message is there, i don't care. Cool is cool. Also, who knows, maybe they're just being themselves. Writing what's natural for them. Its a bit presumptuous to assume its always some purposeful attempt at being cool, and not just someone who's metal, being metal.

That's an awesome song title! :D As a fan of He Came to Set the Captives Free by Dr. Rebecca Brown, I really like the idea of people who have been apart of cults or people who have dabbled in the occult who have turned their lives to Jesus to preach the gospel because it not only helps the people going through those struggles or ...how do you say?....having inclinations to the occult but it leaves behind that "Holier than thou" attitude that people have towards Christians. It says, "Hey, I've been through what your going through and I understand what your doing and how your feeling, but that stuff won't fill the hole in your heart of the fear in your head. Only Jesus can take you away from that... and more."

You know, a Christian band shouldn't really be cussing. Especially the F-word. Living Sacrifice can get away with bastard cause it's always meant the same thing (without a father;parent,ect) and although it's hurtful, it isn't exactly an insult unless it's not true :p

Yeah there's a lot of christian context that can be associated with that word too, living sacrifice was not the first band to use that word, and they wont be the last. I remember a christian punk band called Outer Circle that said it and I just about crapped my pants because I couldn't believe a christian band used a swear word! .hopesfall. was another great christian band who ended up signed on a non-christian label, got a new vocalist and decided they liked the f-word too.

according to his FB, Elgibbor's new album will be releasing before too much longer; I'm really looking forward to that (he says there will be Psalm 140 on this one -- why is it that a brutally raw black metal outfit has recorded 10x more Psalms than any 'contemporary christian worship' band?? you're dropping the ball, hillsong.)
Pantokrator should have their new album released within the next month or so too.

Mercy has uploaded an album a few days ago to bandcamp well worth listening to - and parsing lyrics from - no word on releasing a digital or corporeal copy yet, but you can listen to the whole thing here -- Mercy

They remind me of a much choppier Cradle of Filth, as far as instrumentals...with Bohemoth vocals? I appreciate that they seem really organized in promoting and presenting but the music is kinda like....ehhh....to me. It reminds me of when I used to listen to satanic stuff :/ And I don't feel the power behind it. Like vampire metal...bleh.

Yeah, but i think it's more rampant behind the scenes than many are aware of. And culture plays into it. Not that i think it makes it right, still, but some cultures don't view it as a big deal, such as Australia. We get a lot of Australians in the chats that come in using cuss words and are surprised and annoyed at being asked not to.
Germany seems to have the same culture. I have some Christian punk albums from this German dude that has cussing in them. And i think some other stuff from Germany as well. I've seen my share of bands that threw things in from time to time. Always a disappointment. Or worse yet, when it's posted all over their facebook.

Yeah, when i was a teen writing stuff i used bastard on a few occasions (in its original context). I thought it was 'cool' and a way to get away with sounding bad without 'being' bad, haha. Kind of like 'Hell No' by Bride.

Yeah, Paramaecium were good. Not a huge fan of doom, but they did good stuff. I remember buying their first release. It was pretty epic stuff. Don't think anything like it existed, or not outside of demos, in the Christian market, up to that point.

Band will be called 'Revulsed'... here is a clip of him drumming to the new music, no vocals in it. But supposed to be pretty heavy death metal.
