Love and Death has been brought up relentlessly on every single thread related to rock or metal on this website. It's getting very tiring, and Ugly and I have both stated repeatedly, we are not fans. The band is extremely disappointing to me. Head started off with an extremely raw and emotional self-titled album, and went to Love and Death which is completely unoriginal radio rock. If you want good christian radio rock listen to Decyfer Down or Decemberadio.

I posted them earlier, but, they really aren't very metally. Good music though, although the only disc by them I own is End of Grey (Crash was ehhh).

While we're on bands who go soft, I think Demon Hunter has gone down that route a bit. They've gotten a lot mellower over the years. Man I remember when Summer of Darkness came out, I was still in high school. That was good stuff, I had to stop the disc at a youth retreat because people got a bit freaked out since they were unable to understand the lyrics. We went from Demon hunter to... Falling Up. Ugh.

DH hasn't watered down their message though (if anything some of their later tracks have actually got a bit more of it, which I do have to applaud).

Seriously though... Beauty through the Eyes of a predator? What's not to love about this song?

I haven't gone on a music binge in a while. I need a job badly so I can feed the monster.

Holy crap, that video is insanely awesome!

I have that album but never saw the video for that song. Am I the only one who thinks Demon Hunter sometimes sounds a bit like Impending Doom?

Well I might have a special brain... Abby normal even.

Sometimes I draw connections that aren't there. Like this sort of.

Head rejoined with KoRn for a couple festivals last summer to play a few songs. As he said in Revolver, now that everyone in the band was clean from addiction it was actually fun to play with them again. The way I see it, you have him and Fieldy who have both proclaimed their beliefs and wrote books about them, I think they'll definitely be introducing some light in the darkness. I'm still convinced God has a price out for Jonathon Davis's head. (pun not intended)
Awesome! I didn't know they were all clean now. That's great news! I'm sure God will do great things with the band through Head and Fieldy. :)

Please recommend some better Christian metal bands?? What are your favorites???
There's about 45 pages worth of GREAT and good christian metal bands if you have the time and drive to listen to them all. There's no point in reposting everything again.

Jesus died to heal Jonathon's childhood scars! :D
So true. Thier new album though... I've read the song titles and they seem very anti-Christian.... I'm hesitant, but I'll listen to it anyway to decide for myself.

Someone burned me a boot legged copy of the album, I'm not one for listening to lyrics right off the bat, so I didn't notice anything, at least at this point. Musically is very different but very cool. You gotta understand too, with a lot of these anti-christian people, while they may dispel anger towards God, their anger is pointed more towards the church, and those who have really provoked a lot of their pain and anger. Jonathon Davis's story, from what I understand, really doesn't sound much different from that of Maynard James Keenan. Obviously that doesn't make everything ok. It doesn't make an anti-God message excusable by any means, but I try to separate what is anti-God, from what is anti-christian, because there is a difference. And in either case I feel like it helps to know where exactly the lyricist is coming from, no it doesn't make the lyrics better, but you can understand the pain better, and what it is they go through, and be able to see them the way God does. Just my opinion.

this band's webpage has been shut down or moved, i don't know which.

they are (were) from Moscow USSR - but that's not the interesting part. The lead male vocalist and songwriter is one of only a few ordained priests in the Russian Orthodox Church with the church's training and authority to perform exorcisms. the band and the music itself were put together and written with the express purpose of casting out demons in those that listened to it.

their two albums used to be free dl on their homepage, but like i said, it's disappeared =[

this is the title track, "exorcist"
and here's what's likely a poor machine-generated translation of the lyrics:

The verdict from heavens rang out like a howl. Where is your stinger, spiritual death?
Just like a lightning fell Lucifer down, His malice and arrogance filling the earth.
Killing the image of Christ in the souls, Myrmidons are looking for easy meat.
With deadly breath demons darken the sense, Stealing the souls, oh, so mercilessly.

Hatred t’wards God is their real nature, Hell upon earth is by Satan created.
Tempted we are by those fallen angels
Who lead us t’wards torture, and nothing would end it.
Holy protection let be upon us, Trampling forever death by death down.
With Christly ascendance he conjures the foes And banishment they undergo.

Chorus

The servant of battle, Lord’s loyal warrior, Like Christ having overridden himself,
Having the soul to his comrades devoted, Deprives he of power the angels of death.
Heavens rejoicing, the dark’s been dispelled, Hell by the use of holy rood springing,
And by the warriors the enemy’s banned, Through Christly ascendance they’re winning.

Chorus

The verdict from heavens rang out like a howl. Where is your stinger, spiritual death?
Just like a lightning fell Lucifer down, His malice and arrogance filling the earth.
Heavens rejoicing, the dark’s been dispelled, Hell by the use of holy rood springing,
And by the warriors the enemy’s banned, Through Christly ascendance they’re winning.

Chorus:
The exorcist, let God arise.
Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered;
Let them also that hate him flee before him.
As smoke is driven away, so drive them away:
As wax melteth before the fire,
So let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

i know, right?

if it's hosted anywhere i'm having a hard time finding it =\
youtube has a number of videos, & i can rar up the albums and the lyrics i had copied down from translating their page, if you've got a dropbox..

one of the youtube vids has some commentary copied from their website (it was "exorcist.tv"):

"
leading singer of the group is a noted clergyman and missionary, an acting exorcist of the Russian Orthodox Church; the rector of the Cathedral of Michael the Archistrategos (Saburovo village, Oryol region) and of the Protection of the Holy Virgin travelling chapel; the head of the Orthodox Rehabilitation Centre "Pokrov" social organization (a program for the rehabilitation of alcohol and drug addicts and of people suffered from occult practices or totalitarian sects); professor of the International Slavic Academy -- hieromonch Vladimir (Gusev).

Producer, composer, arranger, lyricist, vocalist (Gnessin Music School, the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS)) -- Unikel (Viktoria Unikel).

Hard industrial gothic rock.

Project "Exorcist" (which means "driving out the Evil One") states the fact of deception and delusion of the human by the powers of evil, whose aim is to precipitate the soul straight into hell for tarnation. And also the project intends to bring home to the people the historical truth -- the destruction of the human's personality via communist ideology and the Soviet regime, which are, in fact, absolute evil both in common and religious senses.

We want to revive the people's spirit by uniting everybody under a powerful groundwork, that is faith in God, to bring the Christless to spirituality. Due to the vogue of the music style, of the certain life pattern stereotype and whatever, people sometimes just have no notion of the covert negative and antispiritual content actually provided by the things they consume.

On this basis we see one of the ways of supporting the spiritual growth of the society (and it has to do especially with its younger part) to be by using the language of the above-mentioned modern subculture. We are to get across the holy sense still in spite of the stereotype of hard music being solely of satanic nature. Hard music is a weapon which is capable to fire with that special force of prayer, as well. And so almost every song on the album includes extracts from original Christian prayers.

Finally we would like to recall an utterance from the Holy Scripture, "Let everything that hath breath praise Jehovah."

"

here's another track form youtube, "Прочь идола от стен Кремля" (Remove the Idol)

lyrics (approximately):
Flowers decorate The Great Altar of Pergamon,
As an altar of Satan it was raised in Babylon.
And as the devilish star of Remphan garnish our Moscow Kremlin,
Demons flitter round and round, burning out our hearts.
Satan’s heathen temple we used to worship,
Our songs to a mummy were so guiltlessly devoted.
We adored them and we met them with so-called 'prayers',
First they zombified us then we just became faceless.
The devilish seal of Lucifer was put on Lenin,
And curses to his mates was this grand demon carrying,
But the time is going forward, as it never goes back,
So let us send the demon back straightly into hell.

Chorus

Marxism, Leninism, Stalinism, Communism, Social atheism – that is latent Satanism.
So instead of Holy Trinity, instead of faith in Christ,
Being branded by a curse, we’ve grown a dangerous seed of vice.
For that terrible and senseless perishing Of our brothers and our sisters let us shrive,
For just to watch ourselves we let while into hell our people led
T’ward red outrage Lenin, many generations’ Antichrist.

Chorus

I abjure you, the Evil One, every deed of yours, every angel,
every piece of devotion, and every piece of your arrogance, I abjure you, the Evil One.

Chorus:
Remove the idol from the Kremlin walls.

the woman is Victoria Unikel, her husband is the priest who wrote all the songs and sang them on the first release, and then most of them were re-recorded with her singing for the second release (2008). she was in one of the Jason Bourne movies =D

So I have tracks covering a wide range of topics. This one should be pretty self explanatory. I have three covering this subject. I know, I know, this is (oh my, I'm about to get burned at the stake) Nu-Metal, but it's so raw you have to love it, it's hard to hate...

Stutterfly showed promise until (I believe it was their lead singer) had a faith crisis. So that's where secret and whisper came from, but their message was a lot less direct and to the point, and they have a different lead singer. Further frustration comes from the fact that Stutterfly's first was really their best, and it went out of print. Pretty sure these guys used to be Uncle Ed's Private Jet back in the day, but I never heard that material.

They even removed a lot of the more aggressive lyrics in their second album. I mean if you're going to to nu-metal, at least do it right, though that said I do like melodic breaks from the screaming on occasion, but it depends on the artist.

If you've ever seen the movie "the silent scream", it makes this one a lot more poignant.
