The Financial Times • August 14 American genius is under attack from China
https://www.ft.com/content/e283773a-801a-11e7-94e2-c5b903247afd

Intellectual property theft and expropriation costs US businesses as much as $600bn a year,
according to the Commission on the Theft of American Intellectual Property.
http://ipcommission.org/report/IP_Commission_Report_Update_2017.pdf

Think of what that means — more than 3 per cent of America’s gross domestic product is lost
each year to theft, piracy and espionage. China is a primary culprit: it accounts for 87 per cent
of all counterfeit goods seized at the border.

But this shocking statistic fails to capture the deeper danger posed by the manner in which
Chinese companies and the Chinese government treat America’s intellectual property.

China has announced a “Made in China 2025” plan to dominate in the production of semi-
conductors, artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, biotechnology and every other high-
tech industry likely to drive economic growth beyond 2025. The US, which remains the most
innovative country in the world, stands firmly in China’s path.
https://www.uschamber.com/sites/default/files/final_made_in_china_2025_report_full.pdf

But rather than building a globally competitive free market economy in order to compete,
China has chosen instead to compel American companies that want to operate in China to
turn over proprietary technology and intellectual property.

I prefer to buy things made in Canada :) But our politicians are selling our valuable raw resources at cheap prices to overseas markets while our subsidiary industries falter and fail and people are put out of jobs they have had for decades. Then the deserted land gets sold at an exorbitant price to a developer so they can build homes for people who cannot afford them. Who buys them? People who live overseas. So our next to zero vacancy rate is exacerbated by properties sitting vacant by absentee owners. When BC moved to tax properties being bought by non nationals, the buyers simply shifted their focus to Toronto. We are being sold out to the highest bidder while we squander our wealth as if there were no limit to the resource.

My parents visited China a few years ago and there were people on the street peddling brand new copies of movies on DVD that had just come out in the theater. I said yea but they're probably low-quality recordings someone made in a theater but they said that they played some for them and they were real dvd-quality movies. They didn't buy any though. You probably wouldn't want to get caught with them at customs.

We have the same problem with the Chinese population here, it's quite a challenge for those not so well off natives who have to compete with their underhanded marketing ways. I don't support them in any way I can consciously help.

but really, over heah, our 'High-ways & By-Ways, are OWNED by them...
look for LOTS of TOLLS, so akin to TROLLS, are being erected where some of us were told that they
would be done away with forever, that we would never have a need for them again, after they were
dismantled..., years ago...there's a 'new arising' going on up inside of here...hold hands, brothers and sisters...
PRAY in UNITY and FAITH...
