We can run a chi-square test for goodness of fit to determine if the results are significant.

In regards to the votes 3, 10, 4, and 9 for options 1-4, respectively, a chi-square analysis for goodness of fit shown that these results are statistically insignificant.

No matter if it was intended to be or not....up until a couple of years ago we shouted to the world we were a christian nation under God. Founded on freedom from government mandated religion. All but 3 founding fathers were Christians of one sort or another.

Correction: Not until a few years ago did we claim we were a Christian nation "under one God."

That phrase was not originally in the pledge of allegiance and was added in the 50s, almost 200 years after the pledge was written.

All but 3 founding fathers were Christians of one sort or another.
Again, it depends on how you define "christian."

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

No, we are not a Christian nation. Our laws were founded on Judeo-Christian values but Christianity was never intended to be the official religion.

The U.S. has been a Godless nation ever since it divorced itself from God in 1947 through the Everson decision, and creation of the spurious notion of a "separation of church and state". Indeed how can there be a separation from God when we recognize that we receive all of our rights from our Creator, whom our predominantly Christian forefathers recognized as having revealed Himself through the scriptures. Indeed so well grounded was our country in God that this spurious notion had only been brought before the court on 2 occasions in the prior 150 years. The fruit is easily observed for having done so with fatherless households, an expanding Marxist welfare nanny state and military misadventures ever since.

As another poster pointed out, the establishment clause was intended to preclude the Federal government from establishing a State church at the Federal level, like the church of England. Indeed individual states were at complete liberty to establish state churches and several did, before recognizing their own error, and abolishing them.

The only books required in our early schools were a bible and hymnal.

A great read on the subject is "Original Intent" by David Barton which includes only original source material.

There is no way to answer this unless you first decide what "Christian Nation" means.

Does it mean a theocracy?
Does it mean a nation where majority of citizens are Christians?
Does it mean a nation founded on Christian principles?
Does it mean a nation which currently is governed by Christian principles?
Does it mean a nation that holds to a few minimal Christian principles?

"Christian Nation" can mean just about anything.

It never was. MOst of the founding fathers were deists. I wouldn't want a theocracy either due to many divisions in the Christian faith anyways. But there are Christian people who influence the government and culture around us :) Like Billy Graham for instance. He did a lot. He's considered the "Pope" of the Protestant movement and is quite respected by a lot of the older government leaders. We should not expect a true Christian way of living until Christ comes back and finally restores earth back to what it was originally meant to be. Christ has always been the Lord of the earth but one day, he will come back again and make his presence known. He will come back again and make things back into the original Eden :) I'd say that's pretty exciting.

Not sure if I want to say...I get very passionate about these things.

In my heart I would have to chose number 2, Not anymore, but it was initially intended to be such by the Founding Fathers

Our government has done everything in it's power to take Christ out of everything in this nation, and just comparing this nation today to the nation it used to be in the past and what it was intended to be, everyone can see clearly what has happened by removing Christ from the schools, and by turning our backs on Gods laws.

Even Christians have become more focused on pleasing man than please God. Because we have turned our back on Christ, He has slowly removed His blessings on this nation. We can become what we once were again, if we as a nation can turn back to Christ and allow Him to rule and guide us.

Thank you very much for that video "Monumental" MrsAsghar. I particularly enjoyed learning about the "Matrix of Liberty" statue and hope to visit it when we are visiting friends in Mass next time.
And I highly recommend the video to those posting on this thread that parrot the abject ignorance that springs from being indoctrinated into the big lie that springs from Godless academic's rewritten and created history, abject ignorance, and unbridled evil, being propagated in our schools and universities.

Also David Barton's book "Original Intent" in the DVD version as well, for a conveniently searchable source.

This from an anonymous email I received years ago:

"As you walk up the steps to the Capitol Building which houses the Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view - it is Moses and the Ten Commandments!

As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door. As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall right above where the Supreme Court judges sit a display of the Ten Commandments!

There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington, D.C.

James Madison, the fourth president, known as "The Father of Our Constitution" made the following statement "We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."

Patrick Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country said, "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ".

Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777.

Fifty-two of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox churches in the colonies.

Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and instead of interpreting the law would begin making law....an oligarchy....the rule of few over many.

The very first Supreme Court Justice, John Jay, said, "Americans should select and prefer Christians as their rulers."

How then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for 200 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?

On the aluminum cap atop the WashingtonMonument in WashingtonDC are
two words: Laus Deo. No one can see these words. In fact ... most
visitors to the monument have no idea they are even there and ... for
that matter ... probably could care less! But there they are ... 555
feet, 5.125 inches high ... perched atop the monument to the father
of our nation ... overlooking the 69 square miles which comprise the
District of Columbia ... capital of the United States of America.
Laus Deo! Two seemingly insignificant, unnoticed words ... out of
sight and, one might think, out of mind ... but very meaningfully
placed at the highest point over what is the most powerful city in
the world. And what might those two words ... comprised of just four
syllables and only seven letters ... mean? Very simply ... "Praise be
to God!"
Though construction of this giant obelisk began in 1848
when James Polk was President of the United States, it was not until
1888 that the monument was inaugurated and opened to the public. It
took twenty five years to finally cap the memorial with the tribute
Laus Deo! Praise be to God! From atop this magnificent granite and
marble structure ... a visitor can take in the beautiful panoramic
view of the city with its division into four major segments. And from
that vantage point one can also easily see the original plan of the
designer, Pierre Charles l'Enfant ... a perfect cross imposed upon
the landscape ... with the White House to the north ... the Jefferson
Memorial to the south ... the Capitol to the east ... and the Lincoln
Memorial to the west. A cross ... you say? How interesting! And ...
no doubt ... intended to carry a meaning for those who bother to
notice. Praise be to God! Within the monument itself are 898 steps
and 50 landings. As one climbs the steps and pauses at the landings
the memorial stones share a message. On the 12th Landing is a prayer
offered by the City of Baltimore; on the 20th is a memorial presented
by some Chinese Christians; on the 24th a presentation made by Sunday
School children from New York and Philadelphia quoting Proverbs 10:7,
Luke 18:16 and Proverbs 22:6. Praise be to God! When the cornerstone
of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848 deposited
within it were many items including the Holy Bible presented by the
Bible Society. Praise be to God! Such was the discipline, the moral
direction, the spiritual mood given by the founder and first
President of our unique democracy ... "one nation, under God." I am
awed by Washington's prayer for America. Have you never read it? Well
now is your opportunity ... read on! "Almighty God; We make our
earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy
protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to
cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and
entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for
their fellow citizens of the United states at large." "And finally
that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do
justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity,
humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics
of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble
imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a
happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen." Laus Deo! As you might have guessed ... I
kind of like the idea that our Pledge of Allegiance includes the
phrase "under God." It is clear when one studies the history of our
great nation that Washington's America was one of the few countries
in all the world established under the guidance, direction and banner
of Almighty God, to whom was given all praise, honor and worship by
the great men who formed and fashioned her pivotal foundations. And
... when one stops to observe the inscriptions found in public places
all over our nation's capitol ... one will easily find the signature
of God. We are a nation under God!!! Laus Deo!!! Praise be to
God!!!"

"Unless the Lord builds the house its builders labor in vain. Unless
the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.
(Psalm 127: 1)" From anonymous email and several sources.

Great post PeteWaldo, and thanks to you and doulos.

I had been wanting to see that movie Monumental ever since I heard about it and was so thankful when I finally found it to watch for free. It is so amazing at how so much has changed over the years and how history is being rewritten into lies and how Satan has allowed so many to believe all the untruths that are out there. This is why I was afraid to even post how I feel on the subject, when it comes to Christianity, our country, politics and government I am very passionate and tend to get on the old soapbox, which then I get ridiculed and told that all I said were lies. So I was glad I allowed God to guide me and that I said very little and was able to share the link of the video. I too strongly believe that every American should watch this video as well as all those in our government.

Thanks for you kind posts and support in the matter, I was beginning to think I was the only one who still believed what this country was based on and created for.

I for one have been very saddened on what this nation has become. We were once called the Great American Melting Pot in which all nationalities were welcomed. Now there is so much hate and racism and I just want to shout out sometimes, that this nation wouldn't even be here if it weren't for others from other countries coming over here to settle and make this their home. We all are truly not 100% American, we all have other nationalities mixed in our blood from our ancestors coming here to settle and make a better life for themselves and their families.

I just wish for everyone in the world to get along and live in peace. And that cannot happen when we each within our own nation cannot get along. We are in need of God and His laws, commandments and guidance. America needs prayer!

God bless :)

I can't see how you can have a Christian country. Turning the other cheek on your enemies only works at an individual level. A leader cannot apply it and expect his country not to be invaded.
