I want this thread to be an easy to navigate resource for stories of defensive use of guns.
A thread filled with back and forth objections will make this thread less easy to navigate.
If you want to debate, or rebut this view, please, please post there--->>>Click here for a separate debate thread on this topic

Thanks

If one does not agree with the topic at hand, I'm asking them to please take any level of disagreement to this thread.

I am a bit confused. I didn't understand.

So the topic is limited to defensive use of guns, and not being defensive about it ?

This topic is about being for using guns for self defense.

If one is against using guns for self defense, and wishes to express any level of disagreement/objection to that, I request that they do it in the thread I specifically created for that debate. Doing such will help keep this thread easier to use for keeping track of updated links.

A debate consists of a for- and against- side.

By this logic, even people who support guns or use of it in a defensive manner, should not be allowed to post.

It makes a level playing field.

Fair Enough.

Rachel it's really not that hard of a request to understand. Really it isn't.

Orangeburg County woman killed boyfriend in self-defense, sheriff says – The Post and Courier
An Orangeburg County woman who fatally shot her boyfriend Sunday was acting in self-defense and won't be charged, Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said Tuesday.
"Based on the evidence at the scene, autopsy results, and witness statements, this victim feared for her life during the physical assault she endured early Sunday morning," Ravenell said in a statement. "This is an example of the domestic violence that is taking place in so many households in our county and we must work collectively to change this epidemic."

South Carolina leads the nation in the number of deaths in domestic disputes. Usually the victim is the woman.
The boyfriend was identified as Jeremy Scott Williamson, 24, of Woodford. He was shot in a house on Woodford Road. Here's what happened, according to investigators.
Williamson became enraged after looking in his girlfriend's purse and finding papers where he was listed as a suspect for a crime in another jurisdiction. They started arguing, and he wouldn't let her call her mother to come pick her up. She ran out in the yard but he dragged her back inside, where he hit her in the back of the head and threw her to the floor. Williamson's grandfather came out of a bedroom and told his grandson to stop and get out of the house. Meanwhile, the woman found a handgun. Williamson charged at her, and she shot him in the abdomen.
A woman came home alone and found two intruders inside. One of them tussled with her. She was able to get her gun, defend herself, and scare them away. Georgia.
Mom shoots at teens in DeKalb home invasion | www.wsbtv.com

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. —
A woman who police said scared off two intruders with her gun Tuesday spoke exclusively to Channel 2’s Ryan Young about her frightening encounter with the crooks.
The Tucker resident, who did not want to be identified, said she came home to a break-in in progress. She found two teens inside her Lee Street residence early Tuesday morning.
“I bust the door open. The one that was at the back door, he ran back out the door. The bigger boy, me and him tussled and we fell out the door together,” she said.
The homeowner, still shaking from the altercation, was able to grab her gun.
“Yes, I did catch someone in my home. I protected myself. Yes, I did (discharge) my weapon,” she said.
DeKalb Police Capt. Stephen Fore elaborated on the encounter.
“One of (the robbers) was in the back, and she was blocking his escape and he tackled her in the home. A struggle ensued. She was able to obtain a firearm that she had in the house and discharge several rounds at the suspect (s) as they fled,” Fore said.
A neighbor’s surveillance camera caught two teens walking up the driveway. The video also shows a teen hiding behind a truck before running away.
The homeowner involved said she did what she had to do to protect her family.
A 16-year-old and 17-year-old were arrested in connection with the break-in.
