Eh, most tattoos I see in people at or around my age are generally pretty benign. As far as I know, the military only rejects applicants for enlisted service if the tattoos in question happen to be obscene, divisive, or excessive, although I'm sure officers are required to adhere to more stringent policies. I very, very sincerely doubt tattoos would have any significant impact on enlistment rates unless recruiters are trying to drum up enlisted personnel from prisons and street gangs.

A future army of robotic soldiers? or bring back the draft.
That is what my daughter in law says she is, she is a robot. Her job is teaching math at high school. She has been a professional, learning each year to understand her pupils and what their needs are so she can best teach them. Now, she is given a day to day plan for her teaching by the government and told she must teach very like a robot would teach.

Before, she could tell when a child had no secure family by how they acted in the classroom. Now, sometimes her entire class has no secure family.

The military also turns people away for silly things; I was turned away from serving in the USMC (my goal throughout my youth) because I had a breathing disorder when I was 5. God's plan trumps all.

Pentagon: Young Adults Too Fat, Tattooed, Uneducated for Military

I forgot about hearing the news regarding this ....
Now I wonder how many are going to get tattooed, obese, and
quit school ? Interesting to get some thoughts on this topic.
The scriptures state concerning the (DAUGHTER OF) BABYLON that the people will be as fat as heifers and bellow as Bulls.....just another sign of the times.....

I weigh 5 pounds heavier then when I got out of the Marines back in the 80's........none of my family is overweight as we eat right and get plenty of exercise (chores) HAH......

Soooo, you aren't worried about being called back in, even with that extra 5 lbs.
That is good "D".... You know I really can understand the obesity being an issue.
Yet, if they would call them in to the military and had to go through training, and
get up out of bed before dawn, and get out there and walk....they will get in shape
and relieve those who are in bad need of coming home.

As you know I told you my brother was a Marine. He is fit and trim. He is a
hard worker also. God bless all who have and are serving our Country.
If I have not thanked you "D".... I will do so now. I thank you...

I like your attitude ... Yes God had other plans for you... As silly as it seemed at the time.
God bless you...

From didymos: True, we don't need fat soldiers,
but tattoos shouldn't be a problem,
and having no brains is actually a plus!

Actually, soldiers need to be educated......to be able to read and write, skills in math and science are a real plus, and these days, given the sophistication of many of our weapons systems, the more educated, the better equipped to serve........Now, it's always been important, but these days more than ever.......a "brain dead" soldier is one who will not only get their brothers in arms killed, but they will end up D.E.A.D............

I agree...I gained 35 pounds in 13 weeks of boot camp at the MCRD San Diego.....we had (diet) privates who lost like 50 to 75 pounds in 13 weeks...they had to stand with their trays of food and the DI's would tell them what they could and or could not eat....they were always sneaking crackers into the squad bay and we all paid the price......

Seriously ? I had never heard this happened. Times have changed since my
brother and husband were in basic training, etc.
Getting back on track ... I have felt all the homosexuals now can stand proudly
and sign up for the military. They wanted equality, now they have no excuse.
Unless they are 'obese' and I have yet to see a 'obese' homosexual male. At
least the model homosexual men are all buff and have that come hither look.
Then we sift through the ones who have tattoos. I bet the tattoo parlors are
busy now... That is sort of silly and a cop out in my opinion. Tattoos have
nothing to do with their ability to serve in military. Then we have the uneducated
excuse. Wow... would drug addicts fit that group ?

I do not think serving in the military is something to mock. I believe in those who
are now serving and have served. I ache for families that have to wait for them
to return. I grieve with those who have been told their loved one has not survived.
More than that, those who come home maimed physically and mentally. We don't
want to see anyone harmed. I hate war and what it does to families. Husbands
having trouble staying faithful to their wife because females are mixed in with them.
Wives left alone at home with no companionship and intimacy find another to
fulfill their needs. It takes a mighty strong woman who can stay faithful just as
it takes a strong man who can stay faithful to his wife. God help all who are trying
so hard to resist sexual temptations.
