Maggie Gyllenhaal was one of the front runners in the rush to vehemently protest the nomination and confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh, because of the allegation of sexual abuse. No facts presented, simply the accusation. At that time, there was only one accuser, with no corroboration.

Now, she has given a pass to James Franco, a cast member of her show "The Deuce" a frequently vulgar show about the rise of the "sex industry" in New York city, IIRC. He has had 5 accusations against him in recent months. She happens to be a producer of that show.

It appears that if punishing an accused sexual offender affects HER, or her livelihood, she's ok with giving a pass.

"
Gyllenhaal, 40, added that she felt it was important for the series to continue given the nature of its content.
“Another thing that was really important was our show is about misogyny,” she explained. “It's about transactional sex. It's about inequality in the entertainment business. You couldn't be more at the center of that conversation than The Deuce. To me, I thought, ‘I want to keep telling this story. I want to keep playing Candy and going deep into what it's like from a woman's perspective to be dealing with all the stuff that is on everybody's minds right now. I want to put it on TV.’”
“I think I would have been so sorry not to be able to keep doing that and also not to be able to watch Emily Meade, who plays Lori, keep doing that [and] to watch Dominique, who plays Darlene, keep doing it and to watch all of these women who are creating these incredible characters that are taking it on straight on,” she continued. “I feel like it would've been the wrong consequence to those accusations to shut our show down. It would've been, like, the opposite of the right thing to do. And yet I believe that there should be consequences for disrespecting or assaulting women. Of course I do.”

Jamie Lee Curtis wields firearms in new 'Halloween' movie despite advocating for gun control

Fox News ^

Jamie's got a gun in the latest "Halloween" reboot. In the 11th installment of the horror film series, Jamie Lee Curtis's character, Laurie Strode, is seen wielding firearms in her quest to kill the film's legendary villain, Michael Myers. At one point, she shoots him as he's standing in front of a window. But Curtis’s on-screen actions stand in contrast to her real-life persona as an advocate for gun control -- one of several Hollywood actors who use firearms in their films while preaching against them away from the set. In light of several high-profile mass shootings, Curtis has voiced...

I was not aware that Jamie Lee Curtis was an anti-gunner. If that's true, then I'm done with her, as well. And I've always enjoyed her work.

I think anti-gun people are special geniuses . . . I especially think so when I see those signs with "Gun-Free Zone" posted on homes. Of course, I think they would be smarter just to post "ROB US!" instead. I mean, some people are so smart that they are actually stupid.

btw . . . I'm not for violence -- that is why I am pro-second amendment.

I am sorry, obviously you or someone you know has been invaded. I don't know of anyone personally that this has happened to. As of late I don't live in the best of neighborhoods. But I practice my due diligence , lock my doors, and keep a bat at my front door...

So you are truly against every person that are against guns? I can't gauge. But I'm pretty certain that most people on this site are against guns or violence...
Huge difference betwixt GUNS and VIOLENCE. For a sec there, you sounded like a liberal............ :)

IF a persons reason for being against guns is violence, then there is a HUGE LIST of things they are gonna hafta sign up as being against! Pretty much anydarnthing can be used as a weapon, especially in the hands of someone trained in such.

Practically any Vet here can probably tell you how almost anything can be used to injure or kill someone.

If you have training in shooting guns or things like that, you develop a muscle memory. So, if someone were to break into your home and you had to negotiate in your brain all sorts of different scenarios--guess what--you're probably dead, your kids are dead, your wife (or husband) is dead.

I hate to be so blunt.

If they are coming in your house--illegally--you don't try to say, 'maybe they are nice people just looking for bread.' You don't have time for that, so that is why you train ahead of time. You know whatever you need is in your house--you know where it's at--you are going to defend your family. You don't have time to hesitate.

Not to derail the thread, but is there any person, man or woman, that ain’t never, on no occasion, is being no hypocrite?

Oh, and just to weigh in on that gun thing. I have more than one gun myself, but I don’t understand this pro gun/anti gun thing. What’s the big deal about owning a gun or four?

First thing you need to get right is that the Founding Fathers put in the 2nd Amendment SO THAT we (the people) would have the ability to defend ourselves against an overbearing, aggressive, Government. IF ONLY the Government has weapons, then you can truly say you live in a Communist State. After their experiences with King George, the Founding Fathers were NOT going to allow the Government to EVER take away the citizens right to keep and bear arms. Good for them.

As for "self-family" defense:

Luke 22:35) And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. 36) Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

So, if you have a problem with me/others believing we have the right to keep and bear arms in order to protect ourselves and/or our family........take it up with Jesus.
