Last year, there was a thing with Canada encouraging veterans to commit suicide, and, well... now this idea seems to be expanding.

So, we learn from the Book of Ezekiel, that one of the main reasons for the destruction of Sodom was mistreatment of the poor....
But what we see here, goes so much farther than mere mistreatment or neglect... how completely surrendered to Satan does someone have to be to act as his mouthpiece in this way?

They would rather have the poor dead than let them become an inconvenience... but too cowardly to simply slaughter them- no, you have to convince them that they want to die first, so as to get their consent... that way you don't have to feel bad- in fact, your even doing them a favor, putting them out of their misery.

Saying that this is abhorrent is really an understatement, but I'm going to leave it at that for now, because, I could probably go on about this forever. I hope everyone will pray for the poor, and against this awful wicked scheme.

I'd like some Canadians to weigh in on this.... Plus I don't know if these statistics, etc. are true? I just don't trust most media is all.

That's a reasonable position; and poll numbers are certainly not always reliable... according to Canada's "medical assistance in dying" homepage, legislation for MAiD to be extended to people with only mental illness issues is delayed until 2024... we will see what happens in between now and then, and where everything stands.

Hopefully the 1000 poll respondants are not really representative of Canada as a whole.

Euthanasia has always been a hot topic, even when I was in high school. If don't feel like living, go ahead and kill yourself with or without a doctor's help. More recently to include the mentally ill. Although Canadian commercials would say the opposite at the moment.

Like most things in life with good intent, they’re always taken to the extreme.
I support the ideas of assisted suicide with a painful terminal disease but to send people to death because they’re hopeless? That’s crazy in my opinion.
How about sharing with the The Hope of Jesus Christ first?

Canada encouraging veterans to commit suicide
As many as five Canadian Armed Forces veterans were offered medically assisted death by a now-suspended
Veterans Affairs Canada caseworker, the minister responsible for the department has testified.

The case has now been turned over to the RCMP for investigation, Veterans Affairs Minister Lawrence
MacAulay told members of the House of Commons veterans affairs committee on Thursday.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it once again, what happened was
totally unacceptable,” MacAulay told committee members.

“There is no way to justify it, and I will not try to do that today, or ever.”

MacAulay said after learning of the revelations he ordered Deputy Minister Paul Ledwell to conduct an internal investigation,
which found a total of four cases where veterans were offered MAID — all allegedly by the same caseworker.

That number, MacAulay confirmed, does not include the case first reported by the National Post on Thursday,
where an active-service CAF member calling himself “Bruce” told Tango Romeo podcast host Mark Meincke
he was offered MAID out of the blue by a caseworker last November.

Hard to imagine telling another human being to end it all instead of offering assistance, sounds like the opposite of what Jesus would do. Here where I am the abuse is in the form of letting the homeless die on the streets. I pass out things to the homeless and I've met so many on the verge of passing with no where to turn or get there. I call 911 in those cases.
Whenever I hear about our city planning to build a new wonderful structure I'm not impressed at all. While at the same time they're making new laws harder for the homeless to keep their make-shift spots w/o providing any options. Alarmingly, this 'trend' seems to be spreading and may God be with those defending human rights and brotherly love.

Hey Eli, hope you've been well.

There are several foundational issues with assisted suicide.
One is that, because of both the nature and severity, we enter a slippery slope the moment we create even the tiniest law making it permissible in any way.
The slippery slope is immediate.

I think this makes it far too dangerous to even discuss.

You take care brother, and have a great week.

Hello Maxwell, you are one of the few here who has changed my mind (on another topic) so I like discussing with you in general.

My stance on assisted suicide is that it should be granted to people in physical pain who have no chance for a cure (and are going to die anyway in pain) and are mentally sound to make the decision themselves. I see nothing wrong with this.

But to put someone to sleep because they’re sad, or lonely or depressed, or Hopeless or whatever people feel in the modern world, than this is wrong. I’d start by teaching them more about God first and even if they are not receptive to the idea, they should never be put to death.

This is my stance on this basically.

The problem is this is a very difficult judgment to make, doctors are often wrong and have other motives.

You see, assisted suicide is getting some traction in North America because recently is has become a thing here but this has been standard practice in Switzerland 10 years ago or more.
‘I remember the news for example of a 30 something year old woman who walked into a clinic because she was bored with sitcoms, microwave dinners and the modern world - these were her words - and she killed herself. Can you imagine that?
This is the kind of insanity that needs to be regulated not denying someone in pain a peaceful death.

Tell me from where does a doctor derive the moral authority to end a life?

OKay, so now we’re immediately going into conspiracy theories, THE DOCTORS, THE VACCINE AND BILL GATES.
How can we have a conversation with that kind of mindset?

Why do we have to doubt the jobs and competency of millions of good people in every profession? I mean think about this logically.
Leaving aside all the politics, this is as humane and compassionate when you put your sick dog down.
It‘s as simple as that. You’re sparing suffering.

Yes so this part is crazy doctors and the laws of that country. I’m not endorsing that.

I guess I shouldn't be so triggered by this; after all, Job's own wife told him "curse god and die".... if nothing else, though, I feel Job had a proper reply.

No conspiracy, doctors like to make money and some have a "god complex."

I like doctors for the most part.

Do you think your view is a secular worldview or a biblical worldview?
Man was given dominion over the animals, I am pretty sure your point is a false equivalency.

Yes I am aware that doctors in general have a God complex, this is basically the ego that we all have, but theirs is shown because they have to fix our physical body.
My point of view is a practical point of view. It‘s a humane thing to do to allow someone to go on the next journey after they’ve completed their bodily existence here when there is no further cure for their disease and they’re in constant pain.

People have different tolerance for pain so how will the doctor or the person decide when pain is too much?
What will the metric be for incurable?

How close do they need to be to death, three weeks, two years?

Why should a doctor have to be involved in this decision?
Does God have anything to say about this?

I think you’re giving the doctor too much decision making here. I’m saying this is up to the patient. The doctor doesn’t make the call.
The doctor is just the facilitator.
When a patient says that he has a terminal disease, which has no cure, and he is in constant pain all day and is ready to go to God then why not give him the option? It’s the humane thing to do.

But when this practice turns into suicide tourism like it has been in Switzerland then this is the wrong thing to do.

What does God have to say about this? I’m leaving this aside for the moment because then we will go into interpretations and philosophies that would get more confusing.

Im approaching this from a compassionate manner where I don’t want to see a loved one in pain which would be hard for them and for the rest of us watching.

Well anyone can kill themselves at any time by various methods, so I am not sure what you are advocating for here?

I see no difference beween mental anguish and physical pain, both can be horrible so why do you advocate for one and not the other?
