I only heard about the whole football racists thing yesterday as I was taking care of my grandma and the news happened to be on. Everyone made it out to be as a racist vs patriotic thing, the football players refused to salute the flag and put their hands on their hearts as if it was some kind of stand against racism and Trump. But the American flag doesn't represent the president or anything he did it represents the blood sweat and sacrifices that was made to make our country free, it represents honor to the fallen who fought for everything we have and the freedom and protection we have and it represents the famlies who lost so much because their loved ones were lost or injured to protect everyone here at home.

By taking a knee and refusing to honor the flag they were not in the right, anyone who hold respect and honor for the meaning of that flag would have known what to do. I know America is messed up and corrupt yet every time I see that American flag I cannot help but stop and stare at it for bit pondering what it represents remembering those who made it what it is. This stand of theirs against racism was nothing more than dishonor to what that flag represents, and lets be honest racism is a sensitive and overused and over manipulated subject and the media will use that over and over and over again because they only care about ratings they don't care how their stirring the pot affects people watching it.

I am very much against racism but I am also very much against dishonoring the flag because maybe to some it's just a piece of parchment that blows in the wind but to others it has meaning

I am A conservative and I like Trump but look at the language he giving to our kids. It’s a shame.
Yes, he does need to clean up his language.... but if kids are old enough to be watching politics on TV, I can guarantee you that they have been hearing a lot worse for years.

I don't want to hear anything about disrespecting veterans if you voted for the guy who called p.o.w.s losers

As a Canadian, I just want to point out, that the Pittsburgh Penguins, of the NHL, (H as in ice hockey!), last I heard were off to see Trump, having won the Stanley Cup. Although it is controversial!

I mean, most of the players are Canadian and white!

Anyway, it once again proves hockey is the greatest, and so are Canadians.

PS Didn't make it through 10 pages of this thread, I apologize if some other Canadian has pointed out the obvious! Oh, I'll take Trump any day over our leftist/Muslim tax raising, plain idiot prime minister, Trudeau (rob the West like his dad!) 2.0!

To put forth a statement like that makes you
either a gullible ignoramus, or a vicious liar.
I'm inclined to the latter.

It is interesting the character of John McCain that has recently come out in his voting. Maybe PRESIDENT Trump saw something about him that none of the rest of us saw until this latest bit of voting, where McCain voted just to spite PRESIDENT Trump.

I believe I was in the third grade when I first used S.O.B to describe a bully we all hated. I guess you were a more righteous kid than I was.

You may be right.
I was talking to a coworker the other day about just this subject. He brought up a family member of his that went off the deep end when then candidate Trump put down McCain's wartime POW status. His uncle also a POW in Vietnam has nothing but contempt for president Trump now . He said his uncle calls President Trump Hanoi Don . I get the feeling that some wounds don't heal.
Blessings

I do. It is the smart way not to keep getting burned. I told you I hired literally dozens of Blacks, and not one of them even tried to earn the money paid to them. I would not hire another Black person again in my life because I saw how every single one I hired thumbed their noses at a very good-paying job that offered a chance to really get somewhere in life.

Are you
prejudiced because you safeguard yourself, your employer, and the hard-working people already employed, by finally realizing that every single Black you ever hired (except for the older, good Black men who were already there when I took over) just wanted to be given money for showing up? I don't think you are. I think those deadbeats should become charity cases on someone else's job, not mine. I worked for my employer, to make them money, not to coddle a bunch of welfare "gimmie" entitlement brats.
Hey Wiillie,
I couldnt helpl but reply your post. I didnt really think it was a goog idea but here i go. i know the blacks you hired were very wrong to neglect the jard-working part of the job and just demand money with no price at working at all. which is wrong. its seems so clear that you're very angry and upset of giving them this opputunity, yet they threw it down the tiolet. i am disgusted to read that. but you have to understand the slave mentality the blacks still have which make them think work shouldnt be given to them since the hardships theynwent through many years ago.sadly they havent let go. im very upset how they're living their lives now with their "black pride" its really so sad. only if they would wake up to the fact that they are being decieved. even though, not every black man is that bad as you think. they are afew remaining who have let go of the bitterness and are actually doing something meaningful with their lives. but please dont have the mentality of having a poor attitude towards them. because they are still out there that are realy hard working. i guess thats all i have to say.

Patriotism isn't just about waving the flag, shouting WE'RE #1 and demanding that anyone who doesn't agree with you, to get out.

Sometimes, being a patriot means taking a look at your country and being willing enough, and brave enough to say "We need to do better"

We can't call ourselves the "Land of the Free" if we all aren't equally free.

We can't say "Liberty and Justice For All", if all of us don't experience either liberty OR justice equally.

We have to be willing to have that conversation and recognize where America does indeed fall short of it's promise to ALL of her citizens. And then be willing to take steps to correct those issues.

Patriotism is ALSO about taking the blinders off and realizing that not all Americans had the same experience. Some of us live in a starkly different America than others.

We are no less American than anyone else. But its times like these, when we try to make our voice heard that we are often reminded that in the eyes of many to include not just the occupants of the White House, but also many "normal" folk, that we're still not as American as everyone else.

I believe in my country.
But I believe that my country can do better.

I refuse to believe that the people who hate that some of us are taking a knee during the National Anthem don't know WHY we're doing it.

They just need to CARE. The kneeling of Kapernick and many others may or may not got results but it has caused many conversations and noone can say what will come of it.

It's always, "It's not the right time!" Well when is it? It doesn't seem to matter in which manner it is done peacefully, someone finds fault in it.

Lastly it was a Veteran that suggested that Kapernick to kneel instead of sitting to show respect to those who served.
Nate Boyer, a former Army Green Beret turned NFL long snapper, penned an open letter to Colin in the Army Times.

An open letter to Colin Kaepernick, from a Green Beret-turned-long snapper

snippet
I’m not judging you for standing up for what you believe in. It’s your inalienable right. What you are doing takes a lot of courage, and I’d be lying if I said I knew what it was like to walk around in your shoes. I’ve never had to deal with prejudice because of the color of my skin, and for me to say I can relate to what you’ve gone through is as ignorant as someone who’s never been in a combat zone telling me they understand what it’s like to go to war.

Even though my initial reaction to your protest was one of anger, I’m trying to listen to what you’re saying and why you’re doing it. When I told my mom about this article, she cautioned me that "the last thing our country needed right now was more hate." As usual, she’s right.

There are already plenty people fighting fire with fire, and it’s just not helping anyone or anything. So I’m just going to keep listening, with an open mind.

I look forward to the day you're inspired to once again stand during our national anthem. I'll be standing right there next to you. Keep on trying … De Oppresso Liber.

40,000 homeless vets
22 veteran suicides daily
But oh no.
Those football players aren't standing for That song I like
that is not just a song, the fact you think it is JUST a song proves you do not even understand the argument.

Try studying up on history and especially the history Of that song. And what it stands for

the rick kids should stand, and honor the men and women who gave their lives so they could be FREE to MAKE those millions.

THATS what it is about.

It reminds me of a young man or woman who still lives at home and while eating the food his parents provide., sleeping in the bed in the house in the clothes in the shoes driving the car his parents provide he disrespects them., swears at them., and thumbs his nose up and tells them they need to "do better" GACK

isn't it strange that people care more about a piece of cloth then they care about people? Our country doesn't exactly treat veterans the way they should. That alone is reason enough to protest
Protest the flag they gave their lives and fought for? Have you ever served in the military?

Yeah, that will really make things better (smh)

Let me rephrase my last sentence to more accurately state what I mean.

Can't understand the mentality that says "America is a country founded on freedoms sooooooooooooo we have the freedom and right to tear down this country based on the freedoms they gave us...."
