[/COLOR]]It seems the U.S. is the only nation on earth that makes laws identifying what illegal immigration is and then works to stop the prosecution of those laws when certain immigrants violate it.

.......and I said............

Half right........the last half...........we are not the only Nation that has Immigration Laws......FYI.....cross over into Mexico, and get caught living there as an illegal.......can you say prison 'ole?

The last half of your statement was true. We are the only Nation I know of that "works to stop the prosecution of" such people. However, the first part (in red) is not true. Many Nations have within their Laws what constitutes one being classified as an "illegal immigrant."

Maybe that is more clear.

Well thats not entirely true. Im not sure how Mexico handles the other side of their border, but if you walk over from the U.S side they don't care. Ive been to Mexico a few times and on their side, all there is is a turnstyle gate. You just walk through it, no one is there to check your ID or even ask for your name. You can go straight into the city or jump in a taxi immediately and go wherever you want. The first person that approached me there was a restaurant owner about a mile from the border who wanted me to come buy a gigantic martini for two dollars. Lol, Mexico is not the least bit concerned about who crosses their border from our side.

Getting back over to our side though, even as a citizen, was a pain in the neck. Stand in line for maybe two hours, answer fifty questions, show ID, and perhaps get pulled into secondary at random for a full pat down. People jump through amazing hoops to get here illegaly. People have been caught duct taped underneath of cars, stuffed in trunks, digging tunnels the other side, crossing 20 miles or more on foot through rough wilderness terrain. We may have serious problems with immigration but so far, its not exactly a cake walk getting over here. People get busted trying all the time. Its hard to imagine how things would change if this bill became law.
We are discussing "illegal immigration," not tourist visitations. Ok? They have an active presence in locating illegal immigrants, and the last time I researched it, the penalty upon conviction was 5 years imprisonment. Big difference between tourist visitation, and illegal immigration. :) As well, you crossed over at an Authorized Entry Point, not some obscure site along the Rio Grande River, where you then attempted to travel to a city/village, and "blend in" with the local population, find employment and housing, and receive Government benefits without proper documentation.
