Smith is who investigated Trumps role in the January 6th insurrection. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smith_special_counsel_investigation The Espionage Act covers both foreign and domestic threats. Their tying the two together as an attempted over-through of the Federal Government planned by Trump. They will probably try to prove he needed the classified documents to take advantage of the military's weaknesses in the event of armed conflict.
Thanks re the above. And here we are still trying to find out who shot and killed that ex-military woman. We only know it was one of the cops. No one was killed by the so called insurrection other than that woman, yet we keep hearing of the 'killing'. It bogus.

Besides what you mention above, there is some other spin that is being put on it. And in the meantime, the actual criminal acts continue but nothing lasts forever.

Apart from anything else, they have gone all out to try and keep Trump from ever being President again.

lol, Republicans will vote for whoever the nominee is in the end. Christie,Pence and Haley seem to think the ratings don't mean much at this time,,makes me wonder what they know that we haven't found out yet...
Those three have zero chance of winning the nomination. None.

As time goes things change, people say they will vote for a guy that's running for president but Is found guilty of mishandling top secret documents and Is now In jail,I don't think that people will R E A L L Y vote for Trump If he Is found guilty Before the debates as he wants a speedy trial.

Not from my perspective. My understanding is that MAGA is only going to vote for Trump, if he is not the Republican nominee they will vote him as an independent or a write in. I sense that the country is ready to split, the leftist have lost all credibility. The rest of the country sees the disaster in San Francisco, Chicago, NYC and Washington DC.

They are hearing reports from leftist school boards, leftist AG's, and people are fleeing these disaster areas. They believe that the election was fraudulent, that the DOJ is weaponized, and that many Republicans are simply RINOs, controlled opposition.

We have come to a fork in the road, either a legitimate election or a civil war. If the election is legitimate there will be a cut off of the gravy train and there will be people going to prison who are currently in power. I believe Trump is saying this to force the Civil war, so I think this ends like the Scarface movie.

IMHO, while the Republicans are out trying to talk people into voting for them, the Democrats are out beating the bushes, dragging people to register to vote, then from the first day of early voting until the last day ballots are accepted, they haul them to a voting place. The Democrats have been perfecting this process for at least 20 years. Unless the Republicans get into the trenches and take these voters away from the Democrats, they will continue to lose elections.

Well not really. I don't think you understand the politics of this country. I myself am a transplant, but my natural inclination to study and research has taught me quite a bit and I continue to pursue those things.

People here vote for the Dems in many cases because they are being spoon fed and not held accountable.

The right is not made up of all maga people and not all will vote for the party. And then we have what is called the religious right and I am sure they are drooling over Pence. Personally, I never cared for the man. If he were to proclaim how righteous he is straight out, rather then hint at it every time he speaks, people would hopefully see what I already see (not that I am the only one at all)

BTW, the Washington Post is not the best place to understand things better unless you like to view through a smoke screen ;)

Oh things are going to absolutely change. But not with regards to people voting in a wanna be for President. Now we have the mayor of Miami running. Talk about an ego.

Maybe not but this is what I had to understand THE HARD WAY...

That the Make America Great Again(MAGA) idea isn't really very well thought through in the first place but it just sounded real good as long as you say it real fast. Just when did people think America was great anyway? Was it after ww2 when we became great and a Democratic was president? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_D._Roosevelt Or Or maybe people thought it was great when we were at war in Korea or Vietnam? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwight_D._Eisenhower Maybe it was when JFK or Johnson was president in the 60"s? Maybe it was when Nixon a Republican took us off the gold standard and we went to fiat money? We could really learn a lot from just considering when it actually was that we considered America great and then look at who was the president at that time.

In the mean while people might probably wonder what it would be like if they could get Republicans in charge and keep them there for 20 or 30 years right? There's no reason why they would need to let their imagination runaway though take Texas for instance it hasn't had a Democrat in charge since 1995 and so that's like 28 years and counting. https://lrl.texas.gov/legeleaders/governors/govBrowse.cfm So there's no point in wondering what it would be like because in Texas we learned the hard way that your beaches and lakes will end up swamped with garbage https://texasclimatenews.org/2018/0...amped-by-plastic-trash-the-most-of-any-state/ and they will let the bays, rivers and lakes get so polluted that you wont be able to eat the fish anymore https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/...ulations/fish-consumption-bans-and-advisories And they'll moan and groan about undocumented immigrants when the truth is that they are all collected up at the border to get into Texas because they permit places to hire undocumented workers all they want(second most of all US States) https://www.pewresearch.org/hispanic/interactives/u-s-unauthorized-immigrants-by-state/ Anyway I would really like to at least Make Texas Great Again like it was 30 years ago and all we need to do is take a long look at that list of Governors, work our way back to when it was great and vote them back into power.

Yes, but this time we have hats.

lol, yes but when,, when was it that we consider to be the days when America was great? Even Regan was reflecting back on a period of time that he saw as when America was great. When was it he wanted to make like that again?,,,something in time prior to 1980...

It's not necessarily a particular time, but a particular set of values; a certain idealism. History will always have ebbs and flows. But the ideas undergirding the founding of this nation should be preserved from one generation to the next.
While we have our fair share of national sins, the ideals of personal worth and freedom are still worth fighting for.

Why are you going to Wiki for your understanding? Your reply here reminds me of that game 'whack a mole' lol. Keep swinging and you might hit one yet.

While I am a proponent of history myself, I think you have tried to put together what you may perceive as a puzzle to the rest of us.

It's not.

So how does all that apply to the op? (shrugs)
