Christianity teaches believers to embrace selflessness, compassion, and love for others. A powerful way to embody these values is through active engagement in charitable work. Beyond the immediate impact of their service, Christian involvement in charities can also foster deep spiritual growth. This article explores how participating in charitable initiatives can deepen the spiritual journey of Christians, drawing them closer to God and strengthening their faith. We will also explore relevant Bible verses that support this notion.

Service as an Expression of Faith

Engaging in charitable work enables Christians to tangibly express their faith and put their beliefs into action. James 2:17 (NIV) reminds us, "In the same way, faith by itself if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." When Christians serve those in need, they embody the teachings of Jesus Christ and demonstrate God's love to the world.

Cultivating Humility and Gratitude

Participating in charitable endeavors allows Christians to witness the struggles and challenges faced by others. This humbling experience cultivates a spirit of humility, reminding believers of their own blessings and inspiring gratitude for God's provisions in their lives. Proverbs 22:9 (NIV) says, "The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor."

Compassion and Empathy

Charitable engagement encourages Christians to develop greater compassion and empathy for those who are marginalized, oppressed, or suffering. By stepping outside their comfort zones, Christians can better understand the struggles faced by others and learn to empathize with their pain. Galatians 6:2 (NIV) reminds us, "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ."

Challenging Comfort Zones

Charitable work often challenges Christians to step outside their comfort zones and engage with diverse communities and individuals. This stretching of boundaries can lead to personal growth and a broader understanding of the world. Matthew 25:35-36 (NIV) emphasizes the importance of reaching out to those in need, "For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger, and you invited me in, I needed clothes, and you clothed me."

Deepening Trust in God

Through charitable engagement, Christians often find themselves confronted with situations that require stepping out of faith. In these moments, their reliance on God deepens as they learn to trust His guidance and provision. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

Transforming Perspectives

Engaging in charitable work challenges Christians' perspectives and assumptions about the world. As they witness the resilience, strength, and beauty within individuals facing adversity, their understanding of human dignity and worth is transformed. Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV) encourages believers to have a selfless mindset, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."

I'd really love every Christian out there to get involved in charitable causes. You can check out this post (https://www.engosify.com/christian-charities/) to learn more about reliable and trusted Christian charity organizations.

I would caution people when getting involved in charitable work to not take the easy road, or the broad way. I discovered to my chagrin that one of the charities I gave to was in fact a front for Satanists and Freemasons.

Instead I would encourage you to start locally, volunteer at a food bank, tutor, help people with their tax returns, get involved with a prison ministry.

For example 100% of the money given to the Gideon's goes to buy bibles which are then distributed. Look at other charities and often 10-20-30% of the money given is for "administrative costs" and in the case of the Mormons it came out that the government only requires around 5% actually go to the charitable activity.

Do not think that the biggest and most famous charities are trustworthy, chances are they are more likely a front for FreeMasons, or Jesuits. There was a 60 minutes special on the Mormons "non profit" which was simply investing the money into a huge hundred billion dollar fund tax free.

Mormons are the pool where the FreeMasons wash when they get caught in criminal behavior.
