The terms are not everything, but the first step to recognizing any action is figuring out what something is. This requires clarification of terms in a way that is understood by all parties involved. Right and left, gay and straight, Christian and heathen, etc.
Progressives are masters at dominating the political conversation. They use this dominance largely to obfuscate, not clarify. Impose their own definitions on everybody else and they dance.
Politically, I consider myself a patriotic American. I believe in the ideals of our nation as founded, prudently weighed, collated, broadcasted, and applied by the generations of wise men immediately after theirs.
The majority Americans still do. That is dangerous to the goals of Marxism. Left unmolested, it would leave Progressives with a no-win scenario in the long run.
By necessity, they must try to divide us and keep us at each other's throats. Obfuscating the meaning of things is part of this.
Take the term Alt-Right for example. What Right in America, broadly speaking, is the patriotic ideal I described. It is not the garbage Spencer spews with his Al Gore-style environmentalism and Bernie Sanders-style economic platform (for that, just go to his website or any of his videos. total pinko).
You can disagree with Spencer on these vital policy points. But if you so far as to agree with him that America should exist independent of some globalist bruhaha, then you are suddenly an "Alt-Right."
Within the Spencerian Alt-Right, they danced to this tune. Seeking to clarify their label, they retort patriotic Americans are "civic nationalists" whereas they are "ethno nationalists." But, like any growing political movement, they want to inflate their numbers, so kicking the "civic nationalists" out of the coalition would prevent them from growing outside message boards.
The correct response to the Alt-Right would have been foreclosing on the possibility of them calling themselves "Right" in modern political discourse. Far Left Communists who happen to not find the American flag or Robert E. Lee statues offensive.
Sadly, the door doing that has shut. Non Alt-Righters are left thinking they are Alt-Right and getting their minds poisoned. Thankfully, I don't think this fire has spread to affect long-term political trends, but we are losing a lot of mid-tier thinkers who would otherwise be stalwart defenders of America as founded.
The American Right is left floundering in a celebrity circus without an influx of these people.
But there's hope. If this didn't occur in the age of the Social Justice Warrior and mass immigration, I would be more pessimistic.
But the Social Justice Warrior cult on the Left and their older Progressive enablers are hurting themselves more than they can dream of hurting us at the moment.
I think this is a fog not unlike the one that gave Washington's rag tag army safe passage out of New York city. I'll see you all at Yorktown.
