It's almost beyond the pale given that he's black... lol. That aside, employees can and do harm their employer's brand/reputation.

In the U.S., an employer may establish a dress code which applies to all employees or employees within certain job categories. However, there are a few possible exceptions.

While an employer may require all workers to follow a uniform dress code even if the dress code conflicts with some workers' ethnic beliefs or practices, a dress code must not treat some employees less favorably because of their national origin.

For example, a dress code that prohibits certain kinds of ethnic dress, such as traditional African or East Indian attire, but otherwise permits casual dress would treat some employees less favorably because of their national origin.

Moreover, if the dress code conflicts with an employee's religious practices and the employee requests an accommodation, the employer must modify the dress code or permit an exception to the dress code unless doing so would result in undue hardship.

Similarly, if an employee requests an accommodation to the dress code because of his disability, the employer must modify the dress code or permit an exception to the dress code, unless doing so would result in undue hardship.

We've had a lot of discussion recently about rights and freedoms. I thought this would be an interesting addition:

Does this feeble minded person realise in German-occupied territories, the coloured people treatment ranged from isolation to persecution, sterilization, medical experimentation, incarceration, brutality, and murder. If his party got it way he would be amongst the first to be put against the wall. Some people just should not vote.

If he wants to wear his band, let him wear it in his own time.

I've seen black people with the swastika tattooed on them but they were referencing the much older Hindu svasti.

This guy's expressing an identification with National Socialism (e.g. Nazism) and I've never met nor even heard of a black person that did though certainly Arabs did. This is a first for me seeing a black man claiming to be a Nazi and well... I've been around.

I read an article that had an interview with his mother. According to her he suffers from mental illness and the family is trying to get psychiatric help for him.

It sounds like it was the city who protested, not his employer. (Maybe the city is technically his employer, I'm not sure.)

I agree it's a stupid thing to wear. In my experience, the free market usually takes care of the problem. No one wants to get into the cab with the Nazi armband present, forcing him to either remove it or find employment elsewhere.

I'm not hard-set against the city making him stop, it just seems to me like a self-curing problem.

Quite an interesting case we have here.

Personally I'm not sure why any American would want to bear the symbol of the nazis considerring the whole fact our forefathers fought the bloodiest war in recorded history to stop the Third Reich from lasting 1,000 years.

Nevertheless, trying to look at this somewhat objectively I'd say I agree mostly to brother AgeofKnowledge's goodly input about employer dress codes

Yes, I see that the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission is the one that took action. Presumably, as a governmental regulating agency over cab companies in NYC, they had the authority to pressure the cab company he works for to discipline him with a 30 day suspension.

Actually funny story back in highschool we have a tradition of Whacky Wednesday where people wore costumes for homecoming week. Lol my acquaintance B is black and he was a good old practical joker. He wore a klan outfit and was walking around and no one knew who it was cause of the hood.

In the middle of lunch the principal came storming into the cafeteria and you could see the rage in his face as he pulled off his hood. Lol watching his face turn from rage to total surprise was priceless, I wish I could've taken a picture. Whole cafeteria exploded in laughter. Lol and B didn't get in any trouble either, he just couldn't wear the hood anymore and had to pretend he was dressed as a ghost. I will never forget that.

You're the first person to recognize it.

Ralph Fiennes is probably my favorite actor. It was the most iconic picture of him I could find.

That man needs to put his hate symbols aside and take up the cross.

Unfortunately, some consider the cross a hate symbol whether or not it is broken.

That's umm... very "iconic" to say the least! I thought he was amazing in Coriolanus.
