This orange Oompa Loompa will never have my respect. And for the record, he didn't win the popular vote.
In Acts 13 it reads that there were certain prophets & teachers of the church at Antioch: Barnabas, Simeon, Lucius from Cyrene, Manaen (who was raised with King Herod), and Paul. As they were fasting & worshipping one day, the Holy Spirit said, “Dedicate Barnabas & Paul for the work I have called for them to do.” So after more fasting and prayer, the men laid their hands on them and sent them on their way.
Directed by the Holy Spirit they went to Seleucia and then sailed for Cyprus. There, in the town of Salamis, they went to the Jewish synagogue and preached. (John Mark went with them as their assistant.) Afterwards they preached from town to town across the entire island until finally they reached Paphos where they met a Jewish sorcerer, a fake prophet named Bar-Jesus. He had attached himself to the governor, Sergius Paulus, a man of considerable insight and understanding.
The governor invited Barnabas and Paul to visit him, for he wanted to hear their message from God. But the sorcerer Bar-Jesus (Elymas, his Greek name) interfered and urged the governor to pay no attention to what Paul and Barnabas said, trying to keep him from trusting the Lord.
Then Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, glared angrily at the sorcerer and said, “You son of the devil, full of every sort of trickery and villainy, enemy of all that is good, will you never end your opposition to the Lord? And now God has laid his hand will strike you blind for a time.”
Instantly mist and darkness fell upon Elymas and he began wandering around begging for someone to take his hand and lead him. When the governor saw what happened, he believed and was astonished at the power of God’s message.
My point is, we can read in this account that God himself had a purpose in mind and the end result was that the governor believed God. The Lord used Barnabas & Paul to lead Sergius Paulus to salvation. If anyone believes President-elect Trump is not worthy to be called President, you cannot honestly believe God would have them publicly shame and dishonor our nation’s new leader on a Christian website in which the entire world has access, now can you? Is that how God works? Or might it be a better witness to the world for CC’s Christian members to pray together for President-elect Trump and believe God for him and give him due honor as our elected leader?
I know many Christians who have been fasting & praying for a long time that God do a new thing in our country, that God’s glory would rain down on our nation and draw people closer, that the Holy Spirit would direct President-elect Donald Trump and use him to help restore our nation to godly principals and family ideals. I don’t see the wisdom in publicly judging and dishonoring our President-elect and working counter to prayers of hope and faith for our nation. I hope we can all stand together in Jesus Christ and believe the Holy Spirit is guiding our nation’s leaders, administrators & President-elect so that the world will see the glory of God. And most of all, that God would be blessed. What are your thoughts on that?
Disclaimer: Brother Dude, in no way was I insinuating that you or any other protestor is being like Elymas. I was encouraging all of us to stand together in the hope of Jesus Christ. None of us have the right to publicly shame and condemn one another. We're to encourage and love one another, right? Praise God!
